Masters of Wrestling “Wilderness Survival Match” Announced For Rapid Fire Festival
RFW has announced that the Masters of Wrestling match taking place at the upcoming Rapid Fire Festival is a special Wilderness Survival Match. Although the match has never been seen before, RFW President C.W. Sunderland explains its connection to MoW.
“In the earliest days of MoW, we didn’t even have a ring. Wrestlers would have free reign over the arena we were in. The matches could, and did, go everywhere. Because the Rapid Fire Festival is taking place outdoors in a park surrounded by forest, we thought that the
Wilderness Survival match would offer a unique spin on a classic time in MoW’s history.”
Mark Blood, Cole Arcane, and Killer Malone will compete against each other in the match. They will be able to freely roam the park and use whatever resources they can find to win. First man to pin an opponent wins the match.
Cate Stiles Cleared For Competition
After being held from competition to recover from a back injury, Cate Stiles is back on the active roster.
Annika Reaches Final Of MMA Tournament
As reported in our previous newsletter, Annika has been in Brazil competing in a global MMA tournament. Annika reached the finals of a 16-woman open weight tournament. Though she was defeated in the final round, Annika received significant praise for her performance from the combat sports community.
Backstage Talk
C.W. Sunderland Growing Frustrated?
Several sources have reported that RFW President, C.W. Sunderland, has been harder to approach and quick to anger than he was when he first took over the company. In particular, he seems to be very troubled by the Loser Leaves Town match between Mark Blood and Shawn Roberts that forced Roberts out of the company. There is a consensus that Sunderland is frustrated dealing with the in-ring turmoil and is more comfortable handling business operations.
RFW Show #024 Results
Hot on the heels of the Wilderness Survival Match announcement, Mark Blood came down to the ring for a match against Cole Arcane. A bandage above Blood’s eyebrow covered a stitched up wound that was a result of his match against Shawn Roberts at the previous show. The crowd booed Blood loudly as he stood in the ring with a microphone. He told the audience that he finally rid RFW of Shawn Roberts and that’s a good thing for everyone. Blood then addressed the Wilderness Survival Match and said he watched his father blaze the trail in the early days of MoW. He knows how to survive such a match and promised to win it. He said Cole Arcane will find out early how hopeless his chances are when he beats him in the ring tonight.
On cue, Cole Arcane’s music played and he came out to the ring and looked at Blood with a raised eyebrow, clearly not taking Blood’s words to heart. Both men traded some words back and forth before the bell rang.
The audience energy was high in this opening bout. Cole Arcane attacked early and often, keeping Mark Blood from getting in any meaningful offense. Arcane had Blood in a corner and pounded on him with mounted punches. Blood pushed Arcane off of him, forcing Arcane to fall from his perch on the second turnbuckle.
Mark Blood burst out of the corner and hit Cole Arcane with a clothesline. Blood took the fight to Arcane, using a brawler-based style like Arcane uses. Blood threw Arcane between the ropes to the outside and followed. Blood pulled out a 2×4 from under the ring and bashed it across Arcane’s shoulders. Arcane took a few more hits before dodging a swing that sent the 2×4 cracking against the steel steps. Blood stumbled forward and when he turned around, Arcane had pulled a metal bucket from under the ring and slapped it across Blood’s face.
The action returned to the ring and Cole Arcane continued to wear down Mark Blood. Arcane went for a running bulldog but Blood slipped free and speared Arcane as he turned around. Blood picked up momentum and delivered Arcane to the mat with a tombstone piledriver. Mark Blood covered for a pin to secure victory.
As Mark Blood got his hand raised, Killer Malone slid into the ring and attacked him. Malone handed a knockout punch to Blood. Cole Arcane began to get up but was met with a knockout punch as well. Killer Malone stood tall in the ring, leaving his competition in the upcoming Masters of Wrestling match laying in the ring.
Ready For Action
Cate Stiles came down to the ring to a huge applause. She stepped through the ropes and paced around the ring before speaking. Stiles confirmed that she is battling Witchmere for the Valkyrie Championship at Rapid Fire Festival. She said the opportunity is a long time coming, which caused the audience to cheer in agreement. Stiles admitted that she is impatient, though, said she is dressed to fight, and called out Witchmere.
The crowd cheered in anticipation as the Lords of Chaos’ music began playing and Witchmere stepped through the curtain and into the arena, Valkyrie Championship belt draped over her shoulder. She started walking down to the ring but then paused in the aisle, held the belt in the air, and started to back up. Stiles looked frustrated, tossed the microphone, and was about to start leaving the ring to confront Witchmere. Before she could step through the ropes, Pit Viper ran out from the crowd, grabbed Stiles from behind, and threw her through the ropes to the outside. Stiles slapped against the floor and Witchmere wasted no time assaulting her.
Stiles was whipped into the barricade, body slammed on the floor, and crushed against a ring post several times. With Stiles down on her knees, Witchmere grabbed her head and squeezed her with a head vise. Stiles struggled until she passed out and Witchmere let her collapse to the floor. The crowd booed as Witchmere and Pit Viper left together. Witchmere held the Valkyrie Championship in the air and showed it to the crowd, who booed loudly, before leaving through the curtain to the backstage area.
The Enforcer of Destruction
Monica Stone stood in the ring and introduced Max Destruction who came to the ring to a big applause. Max stepped through the ropes and looked excited to be there. He raised a hand in the air and motioned for more applause as he walked around the mat and observed the crowd.
Monica Stone welcomed Max Destruction to RFW. Max wasted no time in complimenting the RFW fans for being so energetic. He said it was an honor to step into the RFW ring where great things are happening. Stone explained that Max would be in front of the audience again at Rapid Fire Festival when he is the special enforcer in the King Donovan/Koji Otaka match and asked him his thoughts on both men. Max said that they are two of the toughest fighters he has seen in a long time. He knows they will go to war and their bodies will give out before their spirit because they are true warriors. Max said that his job was to make sure that the match ends cleanly and decisively.
Stone suggested that RFW has the kind of competitors that Max likes and asked if he has any intentions of stepping back into the wrestling ring. Max smiled and avoided the question by simply reiterating that his priority is being a special enforcer. Stone thanked Max for his time and he left the ring to cheers.
Hard Fought
Jax Rivers came out to the ring for the first time since losing the Titan Championship to Rex Anarchy. The former champion climbed on a turnbuckle and hyped up the crowd before addressing them. He said that, despite a sneak attack by Pit Viper before the match even began, he accepts that he lost the Titan Championship. He said he fought hard but will just have to fight harder at Rapid Fire Festival because he has been granted a rematch. The crowd cheered but began to boo as the Lords of Chaos’ music began to play and Rex Anarchy came down to the ring with the Titan Championship belt strapped around his waist. He stepped through the ropes and smirked as he took a good, long look at the former champion.
Rex Anarchy told Jax Rivers that he can understand why he wants to fight so hard for the Titan Championship because it’s a very nice belt. He rubbed the face of the belt as he looked down at it with pride. Anarchy explained that while Rivers can, and certainly will, give it his all in their rematch, it won’t change anything. The Lords of Chaos will continue to dominate RFW. Rivers said that Anarchy’s overconfidence will be his undoing and if he’s too busy staring at the shiny belt around his waist, he’ll find himself staring at it from afar when Rivers is once again champion.
Rex Anarchy suggested that Jax Rivers should get warmed up for their match and called out Pit Viper who came down to the ring. Anarchy presented Pit Viper as his immediate opponent and stood at ringside as the match began.
Jax Rivers vs. Pit Viper
Jax Rivers and Pit Viper started their match with a tie up in the middle of the ring. Initially, Rivers got the upper hand, transitioning to a headlock and then a takedown. While on the mat in a headlock, Pit Viper used a blind spot to thumb Rivers in the eye and quickly followed up with an attack. Pit Viper focused on Rivers’ legs, keeping him from getting up. Rivers tried to stand up using the ropes but was clipped at the knees by Pit Viper who then started to stomp him.
Jax Rivers was tossed into a corner and subjected to taunts from Rex Anarchy on the outside as Pit Viper hit him with gut shots. Pit Viper tried for a kick to the gut but Rivers caught his boot, spun him around, and used an atomic drop. With Pit Viper’s momentum stopped, Rivers started making a comeback. Though he was still favoring one of his legs, Rivers powered through and wore down Pit Viper with some offense off the ropes. After a big drop kick, Rivers landed on his knee and had trouble getting up. Pit Viper recovered first and beat down on the former champion some more.
Pit Viper tried for a gutwrench suplex that Jax Rivers managed to counter into a rollup pin and almost got a three count. Enraged, Rex Anarchy climbed up on the ring apron and yelled at Rivers. Pit Viper grabbed Rivers by the arm and tried to whip him into the ropes but Rivers changed the direction and instead sent Pit Viper into Anarchy. The collision knocked Anarchy off the apron and into the barricade on the outside. Anarchy bounced onto the floor and stared up at the ceiling. Back in the ring, Pit Viper turned around and stumbled right into Rivers, who slammed the Lords of Chaos member down with the flapjack. Rivers covered for a pin to win the match.
As Jax Rivers celebrated in the ring, Pit Viper and Rex Anarchy gathered themselves on the outside. They looked up at Rivers as he stood triumphantly on a turnbuckle and looked down at them.
Maria Estrella vs. Jessie Vega
The main event kicked off with Maria Estrella coming down to the ring to face her friend-turned-nemesis, Jessie Vega. Estrella pumped the fans up on her way to the ring and hugged some of the young fans in the audience. She slid into the ring and prepared for her opponent.
Jessie Vega’s music started to play and she came out to the ring with Jade at her side. Confusion set in as Vega was dressed in a tight-fitting t-shirt, casual skirt, and flats. Her personal photographer took pictures as she walked down the aisle. As Vega stepped inside the ring, she looked at Maria Estrella and held out a hand signaling for her to stay back. Vega removed her mirrored sunglasses and took a microphone.
Jessie Vega listened to the boos from the crowd and offered to explain. She said that while she loves competing in the ring, her status as a celebrity requires her to spread her time out effectively. Vega informed Maria Estrella and the audience that she has a clause in her contract to limit the number of days she competes and clarified that it was for insurance reasons. In order to use those days in the most effective way, she has decided to sit the match out. Vega appeared upset by the boos from the audience and said she feels just as bad about it as they do but has a solution and said that Jade can take her place against Maria Estrella. Estrella rolled her eyes. Before Vega could say anything else, C.W. Sunderland came out and cut her off.
Sunderland confirmed that Jessie Vega does have a limited number of dates she can compete at this time, and she does have some control over her scheduling. He sighed before saying that he will let the change in the match stand, however, Vega must leave ringside and if Maria Estrella defeats Jade, Vega will be forced to compete against Estrella at Rapid Fire Festival. The crowd burst into cheers, Estrella looked ready to fight, and Vega looked worried as she slowly looked at Jade. Jade tried to reassure Vega before she left the ring.
Maria Estrella vs. Jade
It was an even fought match from the start. Maria Estrella and Jade traded offense, each displaying their strength. Jade transitioned a tie up into an arm bar that started her attack on Estrella’s arm, focusing on it throughout the match. Estrella fought off Jade and started a comeback. After catching Jade off the ropes for a big tilt-a-whirl backbreaker, Estrella covered for a pin but only picked up a two count.
Jade side stepped a drop kick from Maria Estrella and dropped her knees down on Estrella’s arm. She took a page out of Jessie Vega’s book and used a double wrist lock on Estrella. Estrella pulled herself to the ropes and grabbed hold for a rope break. Jade tried for a piledriver but Estrella resisted and reversed it, sending Jade flying with a back body drop.
Maria Estrella fed off the crowd and started a strong offense. After a German suplex that sent Jade flying into a corner, Jade cowered on the mat and pleaded for Estrella to back off. Estrella came at her anyway and tried to pull her up by the hair but Jade grabbed hold of her and used a spinebuster. Estrella fell to the mat. Jade used a gutwrench suplex and quickly covered for a pin but Estrella managed to roll a shoulder up before the three count.
Jade went for another gutwrench suplex but Maria Estrella shifted her weight and came crashing down on Jade. After a short offensive rally, Estrella picked up Jade for a running powerslam and drove her into the mat. Estrella covered for a pin and picked up a victory, securing her match with Jessie Vega at Rapid Fire Festival.
Maria Estrella celebrated in the ring. Outside, Jessie Vega returned to meet Jade in the aisle. She looked angry as she watched Estrella in the ring.
