Masters of Wrestling comes to Chicago, IL for a big night of professional wrestling action!
The night started with “Local Legend” Danny Miller thanking his home city of Chicago for a warm welcome. The crowd rejected him as always and then cheered his opponent, Cole Arcane. Miller showed some impressive wrestling skills but Arcane was able to beat him without much trouble, pinning Miller following a running bulldog.
Larry Loudmouth introduced Kami King, who was scheduled in action against Cate Stiles later in the show. King knew she had a big test ahead of her but was not going to be intimidated. She said she was ready for Stiles.
Matt Griffin and Vance McElroy had a chance to reverse their fortunes with a rematch against The Navigators, Aidan North and Pete Arrow. Griffin and McElroy made the most of it and gave The Navigators one of their toughest challenges yet. Arrow and North found their stride, however, and came out on top in the end with North pinning Griffin for the win.
As The Navigators celebrated in the ring, The Druid, Beast, and Falcon, the special guest hosts for the evening, appeared at ringside. The trio once known as The Darkside was a dominant force in MoW. The Druid did the talking for the group and considered The Navigators to be, without question, the best tag team in MoW today. They need tougher competition to prove themselves, however. Falcon and Beast turned to look back at the arena entrance and the crowd was shocked to see The Bomb Squad, Terry and Bobby Bombay, march down to the ring. Both teams had a tense staredown as The Druid announced that both teams would meet at the next show and the winners would be crowded MoW Team Champions.
Cate Stiles made her MoW in-ring debut against Kami King in a singles match. Stiles was joined by her husband, Jax Rivers, who cheered her on from ringside. Stiles came out strong and seemed to almost play with King. King showed good awareness and found an opening to get in some offense of her own. The crowd gained confidence in Kami King as she built momentum. The momentum was not enough, however, and it was only a matter of time before Stiles got the upper hand and forced King into submission with a vicious ankle lock.
After the bell, Mark Blood ran down to ringside and attacked Rivers. Stiles came to her husband’s aid, diving through the ropes and knocking over Blood. “The Power Couple of Wrestling” pounced on Blood, delivering a brutal beat down. Kami King saw this happening as she recovered in the ring and joined the fray. King leveled Jax Rivers with a super kick. Stiles, enraged, attacked King. Stiles took a steel chair and jammed it into King’s leg several times before placing her ankle in the chair and stomping on it. Stiles applied another ankle lock to King’s injured leg. Rivers recovered and flapjacked Mark Blood onto the steel steps. Stiles and Rivers looked proud and yelled into the cameras that this is a warning to everyone in MoW. Mark Blood and Kami King were both tended to by medical staff.
Killer Malone made an appearance, grabbing a microphone and demanding that Cro-Magnum come down to the ring. Malone said that the MoW legend got in a lucky shot and it would not ever happen again. He challenged Cro-Magnum to a match if the man with the stone fist could pull himself out of prehistory.
Cro-Magnum appeared and looked ready to fight! As he made his way down the aisle, Marty Anderson ran out from backstage and blasted Cro-Magnum from behind. Killer Malone and Marty Anderson assaulted Cro-Magnum as the crowd booed loudly. Both men shook hands. Early in their careers, they were a tag team, and now in MoW, Killer Malone and Marty Anderson have reunited.
The main event was a MoW Championship match. John Austin Baker challenged Snarl for the title in an absolutely punishing match that reminded longtime fans of the golden era of MoW. Baker tried to come out strong when the match started but Snarl was unphased and clobbered Baker. After a punishing several minutes, Snarl missed a clothesline and Baker was quick to use the opportunity to get on the offensive. Baker dropped Snarl with a sidewalk slam and was a hair away from a pinfall victory before Snarl kicked out. The match spilled to the outside and Baker was in for a world of hurt. Snarl powerbombed Baker through a table, slammed him on the steel steps, and even powerbombed him over the barricade into some chairs. Snarl rolled Baker into the ring and went for a pin but Baker somehow managed to kick out!
Snarl tried to finish of Baker, but the challenger refused to give up without a fight. Baker fought with everything he had but was subjected to another powerbomb. Snarl went for a pin, but Baker once again kicked out. Snarl is caught off guard by a recovering Baker who went for a small package and came a split second away from becoming MoW Champion before Snarl rolled his shoulder off the mat. Snarl powerbombed Baker over the ropes and onto the hard ring apron. After dragging Baker back into the ring, Snarl pinned his opponent and successfully defending the MoW Championship.
As Snarl celebrated his victory in the ring, John Austin Baker pulled himself to his feet on shaky legs. Snarl laughed and left the ring with the MoW Championship over his shoulder. The crowd cheered Baker for a hard-fought effort.
