Masters of Wrestling arrived in Minneapolis, MN. Rivalries flare up, challenges are made, and the first woman MoW Champion is crowned!
The show began with Shannon Worth taking on Mysterie in singles action. Mysterie looked impressive as always with her high-speed offense and will to win. Her will alone was not enough to avoid a spinning elbow from Worth, who covered for a pin and earned the victory. As soon as the match ended, Cate Stiles entered the ring. Worth wisely slid under the ropes and bolted from ringside, leaving Myterie to be attacked and dumped from the ring. Stiles demanded Kami King come down so she could break her other leg. King did not respond, but Tracy Blood did.
Cate Stiles and Tracy Blood squared off in an impromptu match that was filled with energy from both sides. Stiles was aggressive but Blood held her own with a surgical strike of forearms and kicks. During the match, Jax Rivers strolled down to ringside to cheer on his wife, Cate Stiles. Tracy’s brother, Mark Blood, was not far behind, keeping an eye on Rivers. Although the match continued in the ring, tensions between Mark and Jax intensified and a shoving match brought Tracy and Cate out of the ring. A two-on-two brawl broke out, forcing the referee to end the match in a no contest.
Larry Loudmouth welcomed John Austin Baker and Cro-Magnum to the ring to talk about their on-going problems with Killer Malone and Marty Anderson. Baker said that Cro-Magnum is a legend and has been disrespected by Malone and Anderson. He refuses to stand for it. Cro-Magnum said he’s a simple man and knows the best way to settle it is in the ring. He called out Malone and Anderson to fight and they responded by coming down to the ring, accepting the match, and wasting no time coming to blows with Baker and Cro-Magnum.
John Austin Baker and Cro-Magnum vs. Killer Malone and Marty Anderson was a tag team match every bit as hard hitting as MoW fans would expect! Anderson and Malone showed off great teamwork, but Baker and Cro-Magnum were effective as well. Cro-Magnum had the upper hand on Anderson, but Malone removed a turnbuckle pad while standing in his corner. Anderson dropped Cro-Magnum face first onto the exposed turnbuckle, hit a spinebuster, and pinned Cro-Magnum for the win. Baker argued with the referee after the bell, but the decision was made. Baker helped Cro-Magnum up and watched as their opponents gloated on their way back up the aisle.
Speaking of tag teams, Larry Loudmouth returned to speak with The Navigators, Aidan North and Pete Arrow. The Navigators were unsuccessful against The Bomb Squad in becoming MoW Team Champions. North remarked that the hunt for the MoW Team titles has been the biggest challenge of their careers and their match against The Bomb Squad is an example of that. They were not successful, but they refused to give up. Arrow said they went down but they are far from out. He said the Navigators are coming for The Bomb Squad and challenge the champions to a rematch.
History was made in a MoW Championship match between Aurora Starkey and Maria Estrella. One of these wrestlers became the first woman to be MoW Champion. Starkey dominated the beginning of the match, making it clear she was not going to leave with the title around her waist. Estrella made a comeback and rebounded while feeding off the energy of the audience. Estrella hit a running powerslam and went for a pin, but Starkey somehow kicked out. Starkey fought back into the match and drove Estrella into the mat with a superplex. Starkey covered for a pin but this time it was Estrella who kicked out. The match escalated, the women came to blows, and the referee took an errant elbow to the temple. Starkey took advantage of the lawless landscape and introduced a steel chair to the match. After hitting Estrella with the chair repeatedly, she tossed it down and powerbombed Estrella on top of it. The chair was tossed, Starkey went for the pin as the referee began to recover. In the span of a heartbeat, just before the referee’s hand hit the mat for the count of three, Estrella’s shoulder barely rolled off the canvas, keeping her dreams alive. Starkey tried for another powerbomb, but Estrella blocked it, lifted Starkey, and slammed her down with an Alabama Slam. Estrella covered for the pin. Starkey was unable to kick out. Maria Estrella won the match to become the women’s MoW Champion.
Maria Estrella celebrated in the ring and broke into tears as she was handed the MoW Championship belt. She celebrated with the fans at ringside to end an exciting night in the world of Masters of Wrestling.
