MoW #012 Results

Masters of Wrestling returns to Scranton, Pa following the wild events of Open Fight Night.

The show started with Terry Bombay taking on John Austin Baker in singles action. Bombay was going solo because his brother, Bobby, is out with a broken collarbone. Baker, meanwhile, was looking for a new direction following Open Fight Night, where he retired his friend, Cro-Magnum, in a retirement match. The match was as hard hitting as one would expect from these two tough southerners. Bombay missed a lariat and pinned moments later following a DDT. John Austin Baker celebrated his victory in the ring. Meanwhile, Terry Bombay watched with interest from the outside of the ring.

Larry Loudmouth invited MoW Champion Aurora Starkey to the ring to discuss her championship victory at Open Fight Night. Starkey reiterated that she would never be ignored again. She made herself an opportunity and now she is champion. Starkey said being MoW Champion meant she was the best wrestler in the world and dared any woman to challenge her. This brought out the former champion, Maria Estrella. Estrella congratulated Starkey for beating her fair and square. Estrella said she wanted to be a fighting champion and had no regrets for accepting Starkey’s challenge moments after wrestling another match. Estrella said she hoped Starkey would have the same attitude and challenged her to a rematch. Starkey said Estrella will have her rematch, however, it will be on the champion’s schedule. Starkey patted the belt around her waist and left the ring.

Kami King returned to action for the first time since suffering a broken leg at the hands of Cate Stiles. King faced Meghan DeWitt in singles action. DeWitt went for the injured leg early on and was firmly in control of the match until King kicked out of a pin, refocused her efforts, and slowly fought her way back to a strong offense. King hit DeWitt square in the jaw with a superkick and covered for the pinfall victory. King celebrated in the ring too a supportive reaction from the crowd. Cate Stiles walked down to the ring clapping her hands in mock applause. Stiles climbed into the ring and taunted King, who stood her ground. Stiles smirked and left the ring.

Killer Malone and Marty Anderson were unsuccessful in challenging for the MoW Team Championships so they took their frustration out on Vance McElroy and Matt Griffin in a one-sided tag team match. Anderson pinned Griffin following a spinebuster but it didn’t end there. Anderson and Malone attacked Griffin and McElroy after the bell but cleared the ring when MoW Team Champions, The Navigators, ran out to make the save.

The wrestling world was in shock when “The Star Player” Johnny Young appeared at the conclusion of Open Fight Night to declare his intention of capturing the MoW Championship. Larry Loudmouth invited Young to the MoW ring to talk about his arrival. Young said he was waiting for the right time and the right place to return to the ring. The time is now, and the place is MoW. Young was not in MoW just to take home a big paycheck or be seen by as many people as possible. He said he was in MoW to become the champion. Young said that the current champion, Snarl, is a legend but it has been a long time since he was challenged by a real top tier wrestler. Young said that the top tier has arrived and intends to wear gold again. Jax Rivers appeared and interrupted Young, criticizing him for thinking he can just walk in the door and declare himself next in line for the MoW Championship. Rivers claimed that he and his wife, Cate Stiles, have been carrying MoW on their backs. They are all the star power MoW needs and questioned if there is even room for Young in the locker room. Young said he does not need to earn his spot anywhere but if he needs to make room, he will gladly take Rivers out. Rivers backed off and began to step away to leave but then spun on his heels and went for a forearm smash. Young saw the cheap shot coming, tackled Rivers, and threw him over the ropes to the floor. The crowd cheered as Young tore off his t-shirt and threw it down on the stunned Rivers on the outside.

The main event featured Cole Arcane taking on Dr. Insidious. This match was a brawl from the start with both men bursting with aggression toward one another. The action went to the outside where Arcane had his way with Dr. Insidious until he was whipped into a ring post. Arcane’s head was split open and Dr. Insidious showed how insidious he could really be by grinding Arcane’s head across the steel steps several times, further opening the wound. A foggy Cole Arcane tried to fight on but blood loss took its toll. Dr. Insidious used a cobra clutch on Arcane, who passed out in the hold. The referee declared Dr. Insidious the winner. Dr. Insidious stood over his fallen opponent and watched as the referee tended to him. Proud of his work, Dr. Insidious left the bloody scene.
