It is a big night for wrestling in Los Angeles, CA when Masters of Wrestling rolls into town.
The show started with a hard-hitting tag team match between John Austin Baker and Terry Bombay and their new rivals Killer Malone and Marty Anderson. Baker and Bombay were hitting hard, and their teamwork was their best yet. Despite their strong performance, Anderson surprised Bombay with a spinebuster and pinned him for the victory. Following the match, Malone and Anderson were not done and continued to attack their opponents. This brought out the MoW Team Champions, the Navigators, to make the save. After clearing Malone and Anderson from the ring, there was a hesitant show of respect between the champions and Baker and Bombay.
Cate Stiles found a camera tech backstage, asked them if they were recording, and then sneered into the lens. Stiles said that she crippled Kami King again and heard a rumor that she was backstage. Stiles said she is looking for King and if she finds her, she will make sure King never gets in her way again. When Stiles dragged the camera around a corner, there was a woman facing away from them standing on crutches. Thinking it was King, Stiles ran blasted the woman from behind and began to pound on her with punches. Stiles quickly realized that the woman was a production assistant. As she stood up and looked down at the beaten woman, Kami King popped up behind her. Stiles turned around and was flattened with a super kick. King stomped on Stiles several times before Stiles scurried away.
Back in the ring, the new MoW Champion, Maria Estrella, was standing in the ring to address the audience. She said she watched what really happened in her match against Aurora Starkey in Las Vegas and is ashamed. She believes that she should earn the title the proper way and invites Starkey to meet her in the ring for a rematch. A camera searched for Aurora Starkey and found her unconscious in a backstage area. Estrella looked horrified and rushed backstage.
Jax Rivers dominated Burton Sykes Jr. in singles competition. Rivers showed more aggression than usual and quickly defeated the young up-and-comer. Following his victory, Larry Loudmouth stepped into the ring and asked Rivers about his loss to Johnny Young. Rivers shook his head, smirked, and suggested that Loudmouth, the MoW executives, and the MoW fans all loved watching him lose. He said he hopes that they all enjoyed it because he is on a warpath now and will not stop fighting to be MoW Champion.
Claudia Winter joined Andre Jordan at ringside for his match against Mark Blood. The match was a classic wrestling match from bell to bell. Blood’s veteran experience was clearly on display, though Jordan wowed the audience (and Blood) with some impressive mat wrestling. Winter’s involvement was minimal in this match as she stayed on the sidelines and cheered on her client. Blood tried to finish off Jordan with the tombstone piledriver, but Jordan wiggled free of the hold, rolled up Blood with a schoolboy pin, and won the match! Mark Blood looked surprised and the audience was shocked. Blood offered a handshake to Jordan, but Jordan laughed it off and walked away.
As Claudia Winter and Andre Jordan were leaving ringside, MoW Champion Maria Estrella walked out to confront them. Larry Loudmouth stepped in and asked what Estrella was doing and she demanded to know what Winter did to Aurora Starkey. Winter denied any involvement and when Estrella furthered her interrogation, Winter and Jordan flanked her on both sides. Estrella’s friend, Lucia Mendez, came out from backstage and calmed down Estrella, diffusing the situation. Winter and Jordan left, and Mendez stayed with Estrella, eyeing her cautiously.
Cole Arcane came down to the ring for a scheduled match against Dr. Insidious but Insidious ran behind and clobbered Arcane before he could even make it to the ring. The heated rivals brawled outside the ring, using the metal stairs, steel chairs, and even a toolbox. The referee was able to get both men into the ring and then started the match proper. The match itself was a short affair as both men were battered already. Dr. Insidious built a lot of momentum and was looking poised to finish off Arcane but Arcane made a comeback and pinned Insidious following a running bulldog.
Larry Loudmouth invited MoW Champion Snarl down to the ring to ask him about his upcoming title defense against Johnny Young at “The Battle in Seattle” supershow. Snarl welcomed the challenged but hoped Young understood that he will be brutalized like never before. Snarl said he will only give up the MoW Championship when he retires and that will not be happening for a long time. This brought out Johnny Young. Young paced around on the ring apron as he gathered his thoughts and then said he did not come to MoW for a paycheck, or to feel the magic of the roaring crowd one more time. He came to MoW to be champion. He has been the supreme athlete. He has been hardcore. He is fought with everything he had to become a world champion. At “The Battle in Seattle” Young promises to do it all again to beat Snarl. Snarl, unimpressed, holds the title high and laughs at Young before leaving the ring.
