MoW #018 Results

Masters of Wrestling came to Portland, OR on the final stop before “The Battle in Seattle” super show.

The show started with Cate Stiles taking on Mysterie in singles action. Mysterie got a few shots in early but Stiles quickly went on a rampage and forced Mysterie to submit with an ankle lock. After the bell, Stiles grabbed a microphone and demanded Kami King to come to the ring. King arrived and Stiles challenged her to a rematch at “The Battle in Seattle”. King accepted but then Stiles added that the match was not just any old match. It will be an “I Quit” match. Stiles promised to break King’s leg a second time. King looked determined and stood her ground while Stiles taunted her before leaving the ring.

A camera followed Lucia Mendez walking backstage. Mendez turned a corner and saw MoW Champion Maria Estrella and Claudia Winter shaking hands. Estrella glanced over and saw Mendez. Mendez stormed off and Estrella called after her as she tried to catch up. Winter raised an eyebrow and smirked.

Larry Loudmouth was standing ringside with Jax Rivers. He said Rivers had requested this time and asked Rivers what was on his mind. Rivers said he went to MoW management and told them he was deserving of a marquee match at “The Battle in Seattle” and demanded that he receive one. As of yet, he had not been booked for a match. Rivers wanted to know why. Loudmouth said that prior to coming out for this interview he had been told who Rivers would be facing. Rivers asked who it was. Loudmouth said that Jax Rivers would be stepping into the ring against a MoW original. Rivers told Loudmouth not to stall and just tell him who his opponent was going to be. Loudmouth said Rivers would be going one-on-one against the hardcore legend, Tex. The crowd burst into applause. Rivers did not look pleased.

Dr. Insidious was in action against Vance McElroy but the match did not last long before Insidious pulled out a metal baseball bat from under the ring and attacked McElroy with it, forcing the referee to call for a disqualification. Insidious began to choke McElroy with the bat while he watched the aisleway. Sure enough, out came Cole Arcane. Arcane and Dr. Insidious battled in and out of the ring. Arcane managed to get the baseball bat and use it on Dr. Insidious. Insidious escaped through the crowd before Arcane could do more damage. Arcane was amped as he got back in the ring and motioned for Dr. Insidious to return. Insidious fled out of the arena instead.

Larry Loudmouth conducted an interview in the ring with Southern Aggression. Loudmouth asked about the tense relationship between them and MoW Team Champions, The Navigators. Terry Bombay said there is no relationship. He does not understand how anyone could be confused about how things work. The Navigators are the champions. Southern Aggression are the challengers. He said the better question is when Southern Aggression gets a title shot. This brought out Killer Malone and Marty Anderson. Anderson said that nobody has disrupted the tag team division like they have, and it should be he and Malone who are next in line for the titles. This brings out the champions, The Navigators. Aidan North offered both teams an opportunity and suggested a triple threat match at “The Battle in Seattle”. Everyone agreed to the match and then Southern Aggression attacked Pete Arrow while Malone and Anderson attacked North. The champions were left beaten at ringside and the challengers sized each other up from a distance. Southern Aggression held up one of the Team titles belts and Malone and Anderson held up the other, each team staking their claim for the titles.

Mark Blood stepped into the ring with Matt Griffin in singles action. Griffin had a strong showing in this hotly contested wrestling match. Griffin and Blood traded several near falls and Blood was left stunned after Griffin nearly pinned him with a small package. The veteran prevailed in the end, finishing off Griffin with a tombstone piledriver and pinning him for the victory. Mark Blood celebrated his win but was interrupted when a familiar face arrived in MoW. Honor Pro Wrestling Grand Champion, Dan Masters, came down to the ring to confront Blood. The two had recently competed against each other in Japan where Blood was victorious and then wrestled to a time limit draw in the rematch. Masters said that Blood came and visited his ring and now Masters has come to MoW to do the same. He shared a bit of the history between both of them, as Masters was once a student of Mark’s father, Mike Blood. Masters said the two have had similar career paths but have spent most of their careers on different continents. Masters said he wants a rematch against Blood at “The Battle in Seattle” to see who the better student of the legendary Mike Blood is. Blood accepts and both men shake hands to seal the deal.

Larry Loudmouth was pleased to welcome Aurora Starkey to the ring. Loudmouth asked the former MoW Champion about the backstage attack on her. Starkey said she was hit from behind and never got a look at the attack, but she is certain that Claudia Winter was behind it. Starkey said she does not trust Maria Estrella either and if Estrella and Winter are aligned with each other, they’d better not play games at “The Battle in Seattle” because Starkey said she is back and coming to win back the title. Maria Estrella came down to the ring and claimed to have nothing to do with the attack. Estrella said she was glad that Starkey is back and looked forward to their match. Estrella said that she and Winter were never working together, and Winter has agreed to stop interfering in matches. Lucia Mendez came out to interrupt. Mendez said Estrella was a liar. She saw a friendly exchange between Estrella and Winter. Mendez said she is disappointed in someone she used to trust and offered to watch Starkey’s back in the title match.

Larry Loudmouth stayed in the ring to address the other big title match at “The Battle in Seattle” between Johnny Young and MoW Champion Snarl. Loudmouth asked each man to come to the ring and proceeded to ask them about the upcoming back. Young said that he is in the wrestling business to be the champion. He values the MoW Championship as one of the most iconic championships in history and intends to add his name to its long, storied legacy. Snarl appeared to think long and hard about his answer. He then told Loudmouth that he must have forgotten how things are really done in MoW. He said in the old days, they expressed themselves in a more primal way and then tackled Young. Both men slugged each other on the mat and then threw each other around the ring in a display of brute strength. Young rallied ahead with some momentum, but Snarl surprised him with a spear and then powerbombed Young clear out of the ring to the floor! Young was surrounded by MoW personnel and medical staff as Snarl climbed a turnbuckle and stared down at Young with disdain. Young was able to sit up and stared up at Snarl. Young looked furious as Snarl slapped the MoW Championship belt draped over his shoulder and shook his head slowly before leaving the ring.
