Masters of Wrestling brought the Lonestar Stampede supershow to fans in Houston, TX.
Cole Arcane and Snarl opened the show with an intense, violent singles match. Snarl showed off his strength early in the match and kept Arcane down on the mat. Arcane was persistent and fought back, rocking the MoW legend with a barrage of forearms, knees, and running clotheslines. Arcane built momentum with the support of the raucous audience. Arcane used his running bulldog finisher on Snarl and went for a pin but Snarl kicked out. The audience was on their feet as Arcane kept the pressure on Snarl with a relentless assault. Arcane tried for a suplex but Snarl blocked, threw Arcane aside, and then came back at Arcane with power moves. Snarl powerbombed Arcane and went for a pin but Arcane kicked out. Snarl went for another powerbomb and tried for a pin but still could not keep Arcane down. Snarl used every corner of the ring to brutalize Arcane’s body with slam and suplexes. Snarl followed up with four powerbombs in a row and pinned Arcane for the three count. Snarl emerged victorious but as he walked away from the ring, he turned back to see Arcane sitting up and laughing. Arcane got to his feet and motioned he wanted more. Snarl marched back toward the ring but was surprised as Arcane dove through the ropes and knocked him over. Arcane rammed Snarl into the ring steps and then again into the ring post. Snarl’s head split open and he swung around blindly, looking for Arcane. MoW officials came down to ringside to break up the post-match fight. Snarl knocked several of them down before order was restored.
Meghan DeWitt and Yurei teamed up for a tag team match against Shannon Worth and her new manager, Claudia Winter. Worth did most of the work for her team early in the match. Winter was tagged in and worked on DeWitt. DeWitt managed to reverse Winter’s attacks and tagged in Yurei who exploded into the ring and nearly broke Winter in half with a brutal spear. Worth helped cause a distraction that allowed Winter to reach their corner. Worth tagged in but Yurei continued her dominance. DeWitt got the tag and rallied hard against Worth. DeWitt got caught with a sudden kick to the side from Worth. Worth followed up, had DeWitt lined up and nailed her with a spinning elbow. Worth covered DeWitt for a pinfall victory.
The MoW Team Championships were on the line as “Badlands” Bill Stanton and The Convict defended against The Navigators. The Navigators showed their eagerness to regain the titles and worked like a well-oiled machine. Aidan North ran the ropes, flew off the turnbuckles, and hit fast. Pete Arrow used brute strength. The champions were reeling but The Convict pulled something from under the ring and started working it with his hands. Arrow saw The Convict doing something outside the ring while North and Stanton wrestled. Arrow motioned to the referee who went to check on The Convict. The Convict revealed he only had a candy bar in his hand. Stanton took the opportunity to low blow North. Stanton DDT’d North to the mat and covered him for a pinfall victory. The champions celebrated in the ring, but their celebration was interrupted by Marty Anderson and Killer Malone. Before Anderson and Malone could get to the ring, they were attacked from behind by The Bomb Squad. The Navigators recovered and came to the aid of Anderson and Malone. Stanton and The Convict were amused by the fighting outside the ring until all three teams slowly turned toward the ring. The champions, realizing they were outnumbered, fled through the crowd as the other tag teams chased them.
John Austin Baker came to the aid of Kami King against his rival Dr. Insidious leading to Baker and Insidious meeting in the ring in singles competition. King joined Baker at ringside for support. Baker and Insidious, no strangers to each other, brawled in the early minutes of the match before Insidious began a slower, more methodical attack on Baker. Insidious tried for a piledriver on Baker but it was reversed into a back-body drop. Baker began to fight back and had Insidious staggering after a series of slam. Baker took aim and plowed over Insidious with a lariat. Baker covered for a pin and picked up the victory. Baker and King celebrated in the ring until Baker was blasted from behind by a recovered Dr. Insidious. King tried to intervene but Insidious shoved her backward. Insidious continued his attack on Baker but turned around and caught a superkick by King. Insidious left the ring as King helped Baker get to his feet.
Aurora Starkey challenged MoW Champion Cate Stiles for the title. Stiles was accompanied to ringside by her husband, Jax Rivers. The match was evenly paced with both women showing off their mat skills. Starkey began to change her approach and started to use her strength advantage to slam Stiles and soften her up. Stiles answered by applying holds to Starkey’s limbs to neutralize the strength advantage. Stiles managed to get Starkey in an ankle lock but was not able to get it locked in tight enough. Despite the loose ankle lock, it took a little time for Starkey to wiggle free. Starkey hobbled around the ring, letting Stiles know that she now had a weak point. Stiles methodically attacked Starkey’s damaged leg and went for a second ankle lock. Starkey used all the strength she had and kicked Stiles off her and into a turnbuckle. Starkey fought through the pain as she worked on a comeback. Stiles tried to go after Starkey’s leg yet again, but Starkey dodged and speared Stiles before a heavy series of slams. Starkey’s ankle appeared to give out on her, and Stiles used the opportunity to recover. Stiles ran at Starkey but found the challenger was feigning the injury. Starkey blasted the incoming Stiles with a boot to the face. Stiles went to get back up but was thrown like a rag doll into a turnbuckle. Stiles stumbled away from the turnbuckle right into the arms of Starkey who picked up the champion and drove her to the mat with a powerbomb pin. The referee counted to three, Cate Stiles was defeated, Jax Rivers stood outside the ring in a state of total shock, and Aurora Starkey stood tall as the new MoW Champion.
The Rapid Fire Wrestling Titan Champion, Rex Anarchy, came down to the ring for his title vs. title winner take all match against MoW Champion Mark Blood. Blood came down to the ring looking eager to get his hands on Anarchy. Both men had a tense stare down in the center of the ring as the referee held up both titles before handing them to the timekeeper. The bell rang and the match began with a tie up. Both champions tested each other, with Blood overtaking Anarchy with some chain wrestling. The match pace sped up as Anarchy started to get more aggressive with forearm blows and introduced some more brawling into the match. Anarchy stunned Blood with a brainbuster and tried for a pin. Blood kicked out but seemed slow to recover. Anarchy continued to wear down the MoW Champion and went for a fisherman suplex. Blood blocked the move and began a comeback. Blood rallied against Anarchy and built momentum. Anarchy blocked an Irish Whip and instead whipped Blood sideways into the referee. The champions battled on despite the lack of a conscious referee and when Blood had Anarchy ready for a tombstone piledriver, the lights went out. When they came back on, Anarchy had been dropped to the mat and Blood was caught in a head vise by Witchmere! Blood tried to pull away from Witchmere, but she held on tight until Blood collapsed. Anarchy picked up Blood and used a fisherman suplex pin on him as Witchmere roused the referee. The referee saw the pin and counted to three. Rex Anarchy became the MoW Champion and celebrated in the ring with Witchmere. Outside the ring, Blood recovered and looked frustrated with what had happened. Anarchy and Witchmere taunted Blood before continuing their celebration.
