Masters of Wrestling dropped into Binghamton, NY as tensions intensified and new number one contenders emerged.
Lucia Mendez and Andre Jordan started the show in the ring. Mendez said that her loss to Meghan DeWitt in the women’s tournament was a fluke and she was going to defeat every other woman who was in the tournament to show she is better than all of them. On cue, Yurei came down to the ring for a match.
Mendez and Yurei competed in single competition. Mendez was firmly in control until she got too confident and was rocked by an explosive assault by Yurei. Yurei tried for a spear but Mendez dove to the side forcing Yurei to hit the turnbuckle. Mendez capitalized with a back suplex and then a triangle hold. Yurei submitted, giving Mendez the victory.
After the match, Andre Jordan said that Mendez just proved that they mean business in MoW and are making their own opportunities. Jordan challenged anyone backstage to face him in the ring. Cole Arcane came out to a big applause and accepted the challenge.
Jordan and Arcane wrestled in a competitive, back and forth match. Jordan was showing some impressive athletic skills and mat wrestled Arcane, keeping him on the mat. Arcane worked his way out of a full nelson and fought back with a barrage of hard hits and slams. Arcane built momentum and though Jordan made a strong effort to stop him, Arcane was able to defeat Jordan by pinfall following a running bulldog. Mendez looked sad as she stood outside the ring as Arcane celebrated.
Kami King was walking backstage, murmuring something about “making a great team.” She hesitated, took a deep breath, and then opened a locker room door. King saw Burton Sykes Jr. sitting on a bench and asked where John Austin Baker was. Sykes thumbed toward the back of the room and said his locker was around the corner. King rounded the corner to another bank of lockers but there was no Baker. She saw a locker left open and recognized Baker’s ring gear. King inspected the locker and found a note with an ominous message:
“Dear Miss King,
Mr. Baker has, unfortunately, fallen ill.
He will need his treatments and is under the care of the Doctor.
Keep him in your thoughts during this critical time.”
King looked around nervously and ran out of the locker room. Sykes watched her leave, looking confused. He looked around the corner and, seeing nothing, shrugged and sat back down.
The number one contender for the MoW Team Championship was determined in a four team ladder match. Killer Malone and Marty Anderson, The Navigators, The Bomb Squad, and Balance and Ridge gave everything they had to climb the ladder and grab the contract that would secure them a title opportunity. Each team had a chance to show off their unique traits as The Bomb Squad squashed everyone with vicious roughneck brawling. The Navigators used slick team work to get an upper hand. Malone and Anderson were methodical in their slow but relentless assault. But it was Balance and Ridge that wowed the audience with a dazzling barrage of high risk moves that made people forget they were veteran wrestlers with almost forty years of combined in-ring experience. Balance cleared the ring and Ridge flew up the ladder toward victory, but Pete Arrow of The Navigators pushed the ladder over, sending Ridge out of the ring on top of a recovering Bomb Squad. The Navigators made their mark next and Aidan North began to climb the ladder while Arrow blocked attacks from the other teams. Anderson and Malone overcame Arrow and Anderson used a back suplex to remove North from the ladder just as his fingers were grazing the briefcase hanging above the ring. The Bomb Squad rejoined the fight, but Balance and Ridge made a huge comeback and an another exciting, speed driven offense. Balance climbed the ladder, saw that Malone was below and attempting to knock the ladder over. Balance dove off the ladder onto Malone. Ridge turned around to see what happened but found himself turning right into a spinebuster from Anderson. Anderson climbed the ladder and grabbed the briefcase, securing the contract. Marty Anderson and Killer Malone earned the opportunity to challenge “Badlands” Bill Stanton and The Convict for the MoW Team Championship.
Mark Blood and Tracy Blood came to the ring to address the audience. Mark said that his childhood dream was to become MoW Champion. Before he became an adult, MoW had ended, and that dream died but he never gave up on becoming a world champion. MoW was given new life and his childhood dream was renewed. Mark said that he achieved his dream, it was the greatest moment in his career, but it ended far too quickly. Mark accepted that outcome could happen, but he said he felt ashamed to lose the MoW Championship to someone who cares so little for it. Mark said that Rex Anarchy can pretend he is fighting for the legacy of Rapid Fire Wrestling but all he is really doing is trying to ruin MoW. Mark said he will fight to his last breath to defend MoW and now taking back the MoW Championship is more important than ever. Tracy Blood said she came to stand by her brother. Tracy warned Witchmere not to interfere in Mark’s rematch because she will kick Witchmere’s head into the balcony seats.
MoW Champion Rex Anarchy and Witchmere, the Rapid Fire Rebellion, came out to the arena stage. Anarchy reminded Mark that he does not recognize the MoW Championship but said he will gladly defend the RFW Titan Championship, which unnerved Mark. Anarchy said that the Blood family has always thought of themselves as the first family of MoW. Anarchy said this version of MoW is an abomination and the Rapid Fire Rebellion will wipe out the Blood family to bring ito a miserable demise. Witchmere said Tracy is a fragile little girl who is in over her head. Witchmere hoped that Tracy would get in her way because she will shatter her like a glass flower. The Blood siblings invited the Rapid Fire Rebellion into the ring to settle their differences, but Anarchy said he has not stayed on top of the wrestling world by being careless. Anarchy said Mark will have his rematch at the next show and will have to wait until then.
Meghan DeWitt and Shannon Worth met in the main event to determine the number one contender for the MoW Championship. Worth was accompanied to the ring by her manager, Claudia Winter. The former best friends sparred at the beginning of the match, testing each other. Worth verbally insulted DeWitt and was immediately belted in the mouth with a forearm. DeWitt went on offense and rallied hard with a growing support from the crowd. Winter pulled Worth to a corner to regroup and talk strategy. DeWitt was not going to give Worth a chance to rest and drop kicked her from behind, sending Worth into Winter. Winter crashed on the floor and DeWitt rolled up Worth for a pin attempt. Worth kicked out but DeWitt kept on the attack. Worth blocked a suplex attempt and used that as her opportunity to get in control of the match. Worth went on an attack that was effective and confident. Worth was firmly in control and DeWitt struggled to get any offense. Worth tried for a spinning elbow, but DeWitt ducked and used a German suplex on Worth. DeWitt covered but Worth kicked out. As DeWitt stood up, Winter stood on the apron and yelled at DeWitt. DeWitt was distracted just long enough for Worth to recover and smash DeWitt with a spinning elbow as she turned back around. Worth covered DeWitt for a pin and won the match.
As Shannon Worth celebrated in the ring, Claudia Winter proclaimed that Worth will be the new MoW Champion. This brought out MoW Champion Aurora Starkey. Starkey and Worth had a staredown to close the show in the arena.
Meanwhile, outside the arena, Kami King was walking through the parking lot with a look of panic on her face. An old, beat up black car pulled up alongside her. The window rolled down and a gaunt, sickly looking man was sitting behind the wheel. The man told King that visiting hours were ending and if she wanted to see the patient, “Mr. Baker”, she needed to come with him now. King looked hesitant but climbed into the passenger seat, destination unknown.
