Masters of Wrestling came to Las Vegas, NV with a championship match, plenty of action, and drama.
The show started with Cole Arcane coming to the ring to address his upcoming MoW Championship opportunity against the champion, Rex Anarchy. Arcane said he has crawled and fought tooth and nail to get to the top of the mountain and can now see the summit. Arcane noted that the man at the top of the mountain had no respect for the MoW Championship that he carries and it was time for a champion that respected the title and all the men who carried it over the years.
Mark Blood interrupted Arcane’s speech and stepped into the ring. Blood looked over Arcane and said that a lot of men in MoW want to carry the championship. One of them, Blood remarked, was a second generation MoW wrestler that many believe is the heart and soul of MoW. Blood stepped back and presented himself to the audience. Arcane looked on with a smirk. Blood then turned back to Arcane and said that those people were wrong, and he never was the real heart and soul of MoW. Blood pointed to Arcane and identified him as the true heart and soul of MoW. Blood called back to his childhood, watching backstage as his father, Mike Blood, The Rebel, The Druid, Tex, Snarl, Tiger Johnson, Cro-Magnum, and countless others fought with their whole hearts in the MoW ring. Blood said that what he saw Arcane go through the past year reminded him of everything that was great about the first years of MoW. Blood told Arcane to walk into Final Round 2020, take the MoW Championship from Rex Anarchy, and lead MoW into the new golden era.
MoW Champion Rex Anarchy walked out and observed the ring from a distance. Anarchy scoffed at Blood’s moving speech and said that his goal from the beginning was to tear down MoW. Now that the heart and soul of MoW was at his doorstep, Anarchy vowed to destroy the spirit of MoW one and for all by crushing Arcane at Final Round. Anarchy walked off, leaving Blood and Arcane in the ring.
Vance McElroy was in action against The Convict in hopes of securing a second victory against the veteran wrestler. McElroy was joined at ringside by Matt Griffin while The Convict had “Badlands” Bill Stanton for support at ringside. The Convict came out strong from the bell and was intent on making McElroy pay for defeating him in their previous encounter. The Convict went for a middle turnbuckle elbow drop but McElroy dodged, giving McElroy the opportunity to make a fiery comeback. Stanton tried to interfere but was blocked by Griffin. The referee was distracted by the scuffle outside of the ring, allowing The Convict to low blow McElroy and drop him with a double arm DDT. The Convict covered for the pin as the referee turned around and picked up the victory over McElroy.
Larry Loudmouth was backstage with Tracy Blood and talked about her whirlwind year in MoW but questioned what was next for her. Blood said she has accomplished a lot in her career and being able to compete in the MoW ring is a highlight. Blood added that she is always looking forward to bigger things and suggested that wearing some gold in 2021 would be a good goal to have.
Andre Jordan was sitting in a dressing room with Lucia Mendez and Snarl. Jordan was depressed about losing to Hardcore Adam again. Snarl commented on how stupid it was to get into a hardcore match with a guy who has the word “hardcore” in his name. Mendez scolded Snarl for being insensitive and told Jordan that he was brace for fighting Hardcore Adam in such a dangerous match. Mendez kissed Jordan and told him she still believed in him. Snarl shrugged and admitted that Jordan does have guts. Snarl suggested Jordan challenge Hardcore Adam one more time. Jordan looked invigorated by the support and marched off to ask for a rematch. As the door closed, Snarl muttered that he hoped Jordan does not do something stupid. Mendez took a deep breath.
John Austin Baker stood outside, leaning against a wall behind the arena and staring into the dark of night. Jax Rivers burst through a side door and called out to Baker, who glanced over before looking back into the darkness. Rivers yelled at Baker for attacking him after the four-way match last week, but Baker did not respond in any way. Rivers slapped Baker in the face, which then got his attention. Rivers started to yell at him again and Baker grabbed Rivers’ throat to silence him. Rivers looked scared for a moment but then pushed Baker backward. Rivers tackled Baker and the two brawled on the ground. Rivers slammed Baker headfirst into a dumpster and then dropped him onto the pavement with a flapjack. Rivers began to walk away but turned around to give Baker one final taunt. As Rivers turned around, he was leveled with a lariat by Baker. Baker wiped blood from his forehead as he looked down at Rivers before he walked away, stumbling against the wall as he went.
Medical staff ran down a hallway toward the backlot of the arena, blowing by Claudia Winter and Shannon Worth. The women looked at each other and shrugged. Worth asked Winter if she had heard from Kami King. Winter frowned and said she had not heard from King yet, however, she is confident that she can get through to King. Worth commended Winter for her patience. Winter smiled and said she had big plans for 2021 and big plans require careful planning and patience.
Larry Loudmouth was backstage with MoW Team Champions, Killer Malone and Marty Anderson. Loudmouth congratulated them on their hard-fought victory against Balance and Ridge. Anderson said it was a hard match, but they never doubted themselves. Anderson said they have proven themselves as the best tag team in the world. The Navigators, Aidan North and Pete Arrow, interrupted the interview. The Navigators acknowledged Malone and Anderson as one of the best tag teams in the world, however, they feel they are just a little bit better. Malone asked if that was their way to ask for a title shot. North said he and Arrow needed to spell it out for them, they will. Malone waved his hand dismissively and called The Navigators cute. Malone then said he hates cute. Anderson put a palm on Malone’s shoulder to settle him and then said Final Round was just two weeks away and The Navigators just might be the perfect opponents to close the year on. Malone nodded and said they will see The Navigators in the ring.
The main event was a title match, pitting challenger Cate Stiles against MoW Champion Aurora Starkey. Both women met in the center of the ring and appeared to be taunting each other as they stood face-to-face before the bell. After taking their corners, the bell rang to start the match. The women stepped toward each other and when she got close enough, Stiles shocked Starkey with a flapjack, Stiles’ husband’s finisher. Before Starkey could realize what was happening, Stiles grabbed her foot and used an ankle lock. Starkey tried to fight out but could not. Starkey then tried to reach a rope to break the hold, but Stiles dragged her back into the center of the ring. Starkey tried to fight out but was forced to submit, giving Stiles a quick victory. Cate Stiles was declared the MoW Champion. Jax Rivers, despite looking roughed up from his encounter with Baker earlier in the night, came down to ringside to celebrate with his wife. Stiles stood tall and proud in the center of the ring, holding the MoW Championship high.
