Hello, Masters of Wrestling fans! My name is C.W. Sunderland, the founder and owner of MoW, and this is my opportunity to share the roadmap for 2021.
First, I want to thank you, the fans, for your support of MoW throughout 2019 and 2020. That was the first time MoW operated since 1997 and while we recognized and celebrated the past, we made it clear that the MoW of today is a forward product. We have created new stars and established a deep roster of athletes that will lead us into 2021 and beyond.
I have a few topics to discuss for the upcoming year, so I will get right to it.
Schedule
We are working on the scheduling of our 2021 series of shows and while we are still finalizing the schedule, we are planning a spring series and a longer fall/autumn series. The exact scheduling is not yet determined but we will update you here when we have more to share.
In addition to our regular shows, we are planning some special presentations during our downtime months. These shows, while not disconnected from MoW, mostly stand alone from our regular shows. We want to use this opportunity to showcase certain aspects of professional wrestling as well as celebrate history. With that being said, I am pleased to announce the first of these shows.
Rapid Fire Reunion
Rapid Fire Wrestling is an important part of MoW’s history. MoW veteran, The Rebel, founded RFW in late 2015 before selling it to me. RFW ran for several seasons. It established a healthy roster of women wrestlers and was also the launching pad for several of MoW’s top stars, including current MoW Champions, Cole Arcane and Cate Stiles.
MoW returned and replaced RFW. This upset some people. RFW’s founder, The Rebel, was one of those people. If you kept up with our shows last year, you know that The Rebel, Rex Anarchy, and Witchmere formed the Rapid Fire Rebellion in defiance. This rift is not what I wanted, but I am pleased to say that The Rebel and I are once again on good terms. We came to understand each other’s viewpoints and have come up with a way to celebrate RFW’s impact on the wrestling world.
This spring, prior to the kickoff of our spring series, MoW will present Rapid Fire Reunion, a special show featuring RFW stars and hosted by The Rebel himself. Rapid Fire Reunion will have big matches, dream matches, and will serve as a proper end to the RFW promotion. Look for more details on this show very soon.
The Roster
I love the MoW roster. We have a colorful roster of athletes that scratch the itch of any wrestling fan. We are not standing still, however. Fresh faces are always needed to keep things interesting and bring new voices to our show. We are currently in talks with several wrestlers to join our roster and we will announce them as we get closer to the premiere of our 2021 series.
We are also saying goodbye to some key members of our roster.
First is the voice of MoW, Larry Loudmouth. Larry was our play-by-play commentator in the 1990s. He had a second big run in New Revolution Wrestling League throughout the 2000s, before retiring in recent years. Larry was gracious enough to help us kick off the return of MoW by conducting in-ring and backstage interviews. Larry was one of the key components that bridged the gap between the original MoW and our return in 2019. Larry is returning to retirement and I cannot thank him enough for his contributions over the years. We have already identified his replacement and are pleased to welcome sport broadcaster Kimberly Kennedy to our team! Miss Kennedy will bring a new dynamic to our shows as she asks the hard questions and gets the answers for you.
MoW has built an exciting tag team division that will continue to flourish and grow in 2021. The Bomb Squad were a big part of the tag team division. Terry and Bobby Bombay brought a hard-hitting, no nonsense style to the mix and helped make the tag team division a success. They, too, have decided to hang up their boots and retire. I had the pleasure of working with The Bomb Squad in NRWL and was thrilled to have them display their talents in MoW. My thanks to them for their contributions.
New Leadership
MoW has traditionally avoided having authoritative roles on camera. My belief has always been to let the wrestling speak for itself. However, there are situations where leadership and guidance are required. You, the fans, also need to hear from a trusted voice from the MoW organization. I have decided to hire someone for the position of Commissioner of MoW. I am pleased to announce that MoW legend, Tiger Johnson, will be taking on the role of Commissioner. Johnson’s decades of experience in the ring and experience as an Army drill sergeant makes him an excellent fit for this role.
An Exciting Year Ahead
There is a lot to look forward to in 2021. New faces, new opportunities, new conflicts, new alliances. MoW is ready to give you our best work yet. Stay tuned here for announcements about our upcoming shows and, as always, thank you for being the best fans in the world.
