John Austin Baker vs. Matt Griffin

The show kicked off with John Austin Baker taking on Matt Griffin in singles action. Griffin tried to hold his own against Baker until he was caught in a sidewalk slam while running off the ropes. Baker began a vicious assault that left no breathing room for Griffin to respond. Baker floored Griffin with a lariat and pinned him for the victory.

Following the match, a disoriented Griffin tried to pull himself to his feet using the ropes.  Baker approached Griffin and slapped him around before pummeling Griffin with punches and another lariat. Baker ignored the boos from the crowd as he left the ring.

In Search of a Reason

Maria Estrella entered a locker room to confront Kami King. Estrella wanted to know why King attacked her after their tag match at Final Round. King blew her off, but Estrella persisted, saying she would not leave until she got an answer. King said that Estrella kept getting in the middle of her business with Claudia Winter and Shannon Worth. Estrella said they were bad news. King said she knew that but did not need Estrella to act like a big sister. Estrella said they had common enemies and she was trying to work together. King said she did not need Estrella’s help with anything and walked off.

The Call for a Return Bout

MoW Ring Correspondent Kimberly Kennedy invited Tracy Blood to the ring. Blood came to the ring wearing a medical boot on her right ankle from an injury suffered at Rapid Fire Rebellion. Kennedy congratulated Blood on her victory over Cate Stiles at Rapid Fire Rebellion, noting that she had become the final RFW Valkyrie Champion in that match. Blood expressed how much the Valkyrie Championship meant to her and to be its final holder was an honor. Blood then said that RFW was the past, and she was looking toward the future. Blood said her future was to become MoW Champion. Kennedy asked if she meant that Cate Stiles, the current MoW Champion, was in her sights and Blood said yes. Blood said that she and Stiles had a great match at Rapid Fire Rebellion and challenged the MoW Champion to meet her in the ring one more time.

MoW Champion Cate Stiles came down to the ring to respond. Stiles looked up and down Blood and said that she took Blood to her limit at Rapid Fire Rebellion. Stiles pointed to Blood’s injured ankle and hoped Blood was not planning to compete in the condition she was in. Blood said Stiles needed a challenger for the Bleeding Edge supershow on May 8th and assured Stiles she would be cleared to compete by then. Stiles chewed her lip in thought before accepting Blood’s offer but was quick to warn Blood to be at the top of her game, because at Bleeding Edge, Stiles promised she would show no mercy.

A Higher Class

Kimberly Kennedy shifted her attention from inside the ring to a bistro table setup at ringside. MoW’s latest recruits, Preston Montgomery and Pierre Laurent occupied the table and were enjoying fine wine and dining. Kennedy asked the gentlemen what they were doing. Montgomery explained that they wanted an up close look at their competition in MoW. Laurent asked Kennedy to step away from them as she was obstructing the path of their waiting staff. Kennedy apologized in surprise as a woman pushed past her to refill Montgomery’s and Laurent’s wine glasses. Montgomery complained that the woman was too slow to attend to them and demanded she pick up the pace.

“Badlands” Bill Stanton and The Convict vs. The Navigators (Aidan North and Pete Arrow)

Two former champion teams collided in the ring. The Navigators got off to a strong start but an eye gouge by Bill Stanton to Aidan North turned the match in Stanton and The Convict’s favor. Stanton and The Convict made frequent tags while blocking North from tagging in Pete Arrow. North dodged a clothesline and rebounded with a flying forearm. North tagged in Arrow and the duo hit a huge back body drop and leg drop combo on The Convict.

The Navigators made a big comeback, working in tandem to bring a high speed and powerful offense. North tagged in Arrow while running off the ropes and hitting Stanton with a drop kick. Arrow picked up Stanton and slammed him with a powerbomb. Arrow tagged in North, who climbed the ropes and dopped onto Stanton with a shooting star press. Arrow blocked The Convict while North pinned Stanton to win the match.

The Navigators celebrated their win and began to leave the ring. Pierre Laurent and Preston Montgomery heckled The Navigators from their table as they walked by.

A Champion for the People

New MoW Champion Cole Arcane came down to the ring to address the fans. Arcane said it was surreal to be the champion. He said there is a kid out there somewhere just trying to stay alive on the streets. Arcane said he wants that kid to know that he has been there, and the MoW Championship is proof that they can succeed, too. Arcane promised to be a fighting champion for the fans and for the future of MoW.

John Austin Baker interrupted Arcane’s victory speech. Baker recognized Arcane’s ability to take a beating and crawl out of the gutter to make something of himself but questioned his ability to hold onto the MoW Championship. This comment brought out the former MoW Champion, Rex Anarchy. Anarchy stood up for Arcane, insisting that Arcane was every bit as deserving as anyone who has ever held the prestigious title.

MoW Commissioner Tiger Johnson made an appearance to address the tension in the ring. Johnson said that Cole Arcane needed a challenger for the MoW Championship and he saw a perfect opportunity to find one. Johnson then announced that next week’s main event would be a MoW Championship number one contender match between Rex Anarchy and John Austin Baker. Baker and Anarchy eyed each other before shifting eyes to Arcane, who stared back at them with confidence.

Andre Jordan w/Lucia Mendez vs. Jax Rivers

The main event of the evening was a spirited match between Andre Jordan and Jax Rivers. The match started with a back and forth exchange of takedowns and chain wrestling. Rivers got the upper hand following an exchange of punches. Jordan was reeling until he blocked a vertical suplex and returned one of his own. Jordan then began a strong comeback rally that was intensified by Lucia Mendez’s support on the outside. Jordan went for a belly to belly suplex but Rivers blocked and then shocked Jordan with a flapjack. Rivers covered for a pin, but Jordan kicked out.

The match continued with Rivers looking to close in on victory. After a DDT to the mat, Rivers covered for a pin, but Jordan kicked out a split second before the three count. Mendez’s anxiety was on display as Jordan continued to fight out of pins and break submissions. Jordan made a late match comeback and was closing in on Rivers when Rivers suddenly popped up and slammed Jordan with a second flapjack. Rivers covered and pinned Jordan to win the match.

Following the match, Jax Rivers celebrated while Andre Jordan was consoled on the outside by Lucia Mendez. Jordan looked up at the ring, meeting Rivers’ eyes. Rivers looked down at Jordan before pointing to him and giving him a thumbs up out of respect for his defeated opponent’s effort. Jordan nodded and then made his way backstage as Rivers continued to celebrate to close the show.
