MoW #056 Results

Masters of Wrestling visited Winnipeg, Manitoba as the Canada tour continued. Jax Rivers and Tornado met in a main event rematch, Kami King and Maria Estrella in singles action, Preston Montgomery and Pierre Laurent debuted against Balance and Ridge, Andre Jordan and Snarl in action against “Badlands” Bill Stanton and The Convict, and Tracy Blood returned to competition against Red Widow. Appearances by MoW Champion Cole Arcane, Mysterie, Grave, Giant Wraith, Jessie Vega, and more.

Red Widow vs. Tracy Blood

The show kicked off with Tracy Blood in her first match since Rapid Fire Rebellion against Red Widow. Blood came out of the gate hot and struck her high flying opponent with kicks, punches, and throws. MoW Champion Cate Stiles stepped out from behind the entrance curtain and watched with curiosity as the match continued.

Blood leapfrogged over Red Widow on a rebound from the ropes and appeared to twist her recently injured ankle. Red Widow took advantage of the situation and hit Blood with a series of quick offense. Blood dodged a missile dropkick and made a strong comeback before hitting Red Widow with a head kick. Blood pinned Red Widow to win the match.

Tracy Blood celebrated in the ring while Stiles continued to watch from a distance before leaving.

Repairs

Jessie Vega was backstage in mid-conversation with Maria Estrella. Estrella wondered what she was doing wrong to upset Kami King and Vega assured her she did nothing wrong, noting that she herself had once acted poorly to Estrella. Vega regretted her actions, lamenting that if she had acted the way she had, she and Estrella would still be friends. Estrella took Vega’s hand, smiled, and said they still could be. Vega smiled back just as Kimberly Kennedy stepped in for a scheduled interview with Vega. Vega wished Estrella well in her match against King later in the night.

Kennedy congratulated Vega on her victory against Shannon Worth last week and asked Vega how she felt being back in the ring. Vega began to say how happy she was with her performance when she was interrupted by an angry Worth. Worth grabbed Vega by the collar of her leather jacket and demanded another match, calling their match a fluke, and promising to put Vega in a world of hurt. Claudia Winter intervened and calmed down Worth, promising to work something out.

“Badlands” Bill Stanton and The Convict vs. Andre Jordan and Snarl w/Lucia Mendez

The action continued with Andre Jordan and Snarl working together as a tag team against the veteran team of Bill Stanton and The Convict. Stanton found himself on the defensive against Jordan. The Convict tagged in but found himself running into an explosive offense by Snarl. Snarl and Jordan worked well together as they continued to dominate the match.

Stanton broke up a pin attempt by Jordan and used the moment to DDT Jordan. The Convict used the opportunity created by his partner to begin a comeback. The Convict and Stanton separated Jordan from Snarl as they worked together to punish Jordan’s back. Jordan slipped out of a suplex attempt by The Convict and answered with a belly to belly suplex. Jordan crawled over to Snarl and tagged in just The Convict tagged in Stanton. Stanton charged at Snarl for spear, but Snarl caught Stanton, driving him down quickly with a powerbomb. Snarl pinned Stanton and earned the victory for himself and Jordan.

Snarl helped Andre Jordan to his feet and the two celebrated their win with Lucia Mendez raising both men’s hands.

Ready for Action

Kimberly Kennedy welcome MoW Champion Cole Arcane to the ring. Arcane took his time holding up the title belt at each turnbuckle for the cheering audience. Kennedy told Arcane that the fans were behind him and believe in him, but John Austin Baker is on a warpath and asked how he felt about his match against Baker at Bleeding Edge. Arcane said that Baker is more dangerous than he has ever been, he has been hurting people, and Arcane has no doubt Baker expects to inflict pain while trying to take the MoW Championship. Arcane shook his head and said Baker is just one in a long list of people who tried to snuff him out but despite all of it, Arcane is standing as MoW Champion. Arcane said he expects brutality but when it is all over, he will still be the MoW Champion.

Preston Montgomery and Pierre Laurent vs. Balance and Ridge

The young team of Preston Montgomery and Pierre Laurent made their in-ring debut against the veterans Balance and Ridge. Montgomery and Laurent carried a bottle of celebratory champagne with them to the ring. Montgomery and Laurent had a strong showing early in the match, surprising Balance with some impressive offense. Laurent took too much time showing off for the crowd, allowing Balance to dodge an elbow drop and tag in Ridge.

Ridge cleared Laurent from the ring, which had Montgomery and Laurent regrouping on the outside. The rookie team showed more promise as the match continued but it was their cockiness that led to their downfall. Montgomery was toying with Ridge, allowing the veteran to get an upper hand and turn the tide. Balance tagged in and after a lifting DDT on Montgomery, pinned Montgomery for the win.

Balance and Ridge were declared the winners and celebrated in the ring. Ridge grabbed the bottle of champagne and opened it, spraying the contents on a mortified Montgomery and Laurent.

Maria Estrella vs. Kami King

Kami King got her wish for a match against Maria Estrella. The match went back and forth as King showed more aggression as she seemed to have something to prove to Estrella. Estrella was more reserved in her approach but used her strength advantage to keep King from building too much momentum.

King slipped out of an armlock and hit Estrella hard with a kick to the back. King began a focused attack on Estrella’s back to help take away her powerful offense. Estrella kicked out several pin attempts as King continued her attack. King lined up a superkick as Estrella struggled to her feet, but Estrella dodged and responded with an explosive German suplex. Estrella began to show more fire than before and delivered a continuous attack on King. Estrella tried for a pin, but King kicked out and started to dig deep, making a comeback. Both women pummeled each other with fists before falling to the mat where they slugged each other. King grabbed Estrella by the hair and slammed her head into the mat. Estrella rolled over and blasted King with forearm shots.

Estrella dragged King to her feet but was kicked in the knee by King. King went for a super kick, but Estrella dodged again. Estrella used a knee strike to King’s midsection and followed up with a running powerslam. Estrella covered for a pin and won the match.

Following the match, Maria Estrella checked on Kami King. King looked upset and, in some pain, as she got to her feet. Words were exchanged between the women before Estrella offered a handshake. King accepted the handshake and the crowd cheered. Estrella turned to look at the crowd. As she turned back to King, King floored her with a superkick. Estrella lay flat on the mat as King looked down at her with tears falling from her eyes. King rolled out of the ring and walked backstage.

The Lost Ones

A backstage camera found Mysterie, Grave, and Giant Wraith standing in a secluded corner of the arena. Mysterie said that the three of them were heartlessly forgotten by the wrestling world. She said they were now known as The Lost Ones but promised they would not be ignored anymore. Mysterie then said they would make themselves known to everyone by taking gold and challenged the MoW Team Champions, Killer Malone and Marty Anderson, to face Grave and Giant Wraith for the titles at Bleeding Edge. Mysterie looked to her hulking cohorts before looking back at the camera and promised that The Lost Ones’ time had come, even if nobody else wanted them.

Tornado vs. Jax Rivers

The main event featured a rematch between Tornado and Jax Rivers. The match began with a tie up, a test of strength, and a back-and-forth chain of wrestling throws. Tornado got the better of Rivers and hit with a volley of strikes and attacks off the ropes. Rivers rolled out of the ring to collect himself but Tornado dove over the top rope and came crashing down on him.

Tornado kept on the offense, using the ring posts and barricades to soften Rivers’ back. Tornado body slammed Rivers on the floor and grabbed him by the hair to roll back into the ring. Rivers countered with a side suplex. Both men were slow to get up, but Rivers rolled into the ring and back out to break the referee’s count. Rivers got in some punches to Tornado and then whipped him into the barricade before clotheslining him over into the crowd. River and Tornado exchanged blows in the middle of an excited audience before working their way back to the ring.

Rivers caught Tornado on a cross body block and slammed him to the mat. Rivers stayed on offense and looked ready to strike with a flapjack, but Tornado avoided it and responded with a dropkick. Tornado rallied a quick offense and, following a vertical suplex, climbed the turnbuckle and hit Rivers with a corkscrew senton. Tornado covered for the pin to win the match.

Tornado celebrated the win in the ring to close out the show. Jax Rivers watched silently from the aisle before running his hands through his hair and walking backstage.
