MoW #057 Results

Toronto, Ontario was the penultimate show of the MoW Canadian tour.  Tornado and Jax Rivers battled in a tie breaker main event, MoW Champion Cate Stiles was in action, Claudia Winter made a big announcement, and the final pieces were put in place for the Bleeding Edge supershow.

Too Fired Up to Wait

Kimberly Kennedy opened the show by welcome John Austin Baker to the ring for an interview. Kennedy asked Baker about his MoW Championship opportunity against Cole Arcane at Bleeding Edge. Baker said a man may look to have a strong heart until they are faced with a challenge so dire, so hopefully to overcome, that the man will cower and reveal themselves to be weak. Baker said Arcane has shown himself to be strong, but next week he will come face to face with his own desolation, and his true self will become known. Kennedy asked Baker if he thought Arcane was afraid of him. Baker gave Kennedy a long, cold stare before saying he should be. Baker then said he will show Arcane what he has to look forward to and invited anyone from backstage to come face him in the ring.

MoW Champion Cole Arcane himself came down to the ring. Arcane made it halfway down the aisle before removing the title belt and running into the ring to begin brawling with Baker. The fight spilled out of the ring to the floor. Baker got the better of the champion and slammed his back against the edge of the ring. Arcane was pressed against the ring post as Baker ran toward him. Arcane dodged and tripped Baker, sending him face first into the steel steps and splitting his head open. Baker stumbled but found Arcane and the two traded fists. Officials were able to break up the fight from continuing but Baker screamed at Arcane that he was a dead man walking.

You’ve Got Potential

Tiger Johnson was standing backstage going over some papers when Matt Griffin and Vance McElroy approached him. Griffin and McElroy told Johnson they were tired of not getting anywhere in MoW and were quitting. Johnson was shocked but assured them that he saw potential in them, noting McElroy had shown progress last year. Johnson said he thought they just needed a different approach and suggested they become a tag team in MoW. Griffin and McElroy were reluctant but decided to give it a try. Johnson gave them an attaboy and then said he will set up their first match at Bleeding Edge against Andre Jordan and Snarl. Johnson told then they would do great and walked away as Griffin and McElroy gave each other an uneasy look.

Paisley Alden vs. Cate Stiles

MoW Champion Cate Stiles competed in a non-title match against Paisley Alden. Stiles dominated the rookie Alden at the start of the match, focusing her offense on Alden’s leg. Alden hit Stiles with a dropkick and surprised the champion with a small package, though Stiles managed to kick out. Alden’s momentum was short lived as Stiles got back in control and used the ankle lock to force Alden into submission. Cate Stiles picked up the win on her way toward her title defense at Bleeding Edge.

Kimberly Kennedy came to the ring and congratulated Cate Stiles on her win. Kennedy asked Stiles about facing Tracy Blood next week at Bleeding Edge. Stiles said she watched Blood compete last week and while she was impressive, she wanted to remind Blood that she was stepping into the ring against the best wrestler in the world. This comment brought out Tracy Blood to the ring to respond.

Blood told Stiles that they were no strangers in the ring and knows that Stiles is not invincible. Blood said she needed to win the MoW Championship and would accept nothing less than to walk out of Bleeding Edge as champion. Stiles questioned Blood’s nagging ankle injury and told Blood to go backstage and ask Jessie Vega, Kami King, and Maria Estrella how well their drive to win held up against the ankle lock. Stiles said they all ended up on the shelf and predicted that Blood would be next. Blood warned Stiles that history does not always repeat itself. Stiles and Blood had a staredown as Kennedy told the audience to find out what happened at Bleeding Edge.

A Physical Conversation

Maria Estrella was shown in the parking lot leaning against her Ford Mustang in the afternoon sun. Estrella said she wanted to discuss her issues with Kami King, but something knocked some screws loose in King’s head and made that option impossible. Estrella said that if King just wants to talk with her hands and feet, then she is ready to have that conversation and told King she would see her in the ring at Bleeding Edge.

Assembling the Team

Kimberly Kennedy invited Claudia Winter to the ring, who arrived with Shannon Worth in tow. Kennedy welcomed Winter and revealed to the audience that Winter wanted the time to make some announcements. Winter took the microphone and dismissed Kennedy. Winter said she came to MoW to find the best and brightest and help them climb to the top. Winter pointed to Worth and proclaimed that she would be a household name in time and MoW’s future queen. Winter said she felt that Worth deserved another opportunity against Jessie Vega and arranged a rematch between the two at Bleeding Edge.

Winter said there were others in MoW that deserved more opportunity and announced that she had signed new clients. Winter invited Preston Montgomery and Pierre Laurent to join her in the ring. Montgomery and Laurent entered the ring and stood tall and proud next to Winter. Winter announced that Montgomery and Laurent would face Balance and Ridge at Bleeding Edge under her guidance. Winter called her new group The Diamond Peak and warned the roster they were taking their spot on top of MoW.

A Response to The Lost Ones

Kimberly Kennedy was backstage with MoW Team Champions, Killer Malone and Marty Anderson. Kennedy asked the champions if they had a response to the challenge from The Lost Ones. Malone said The Lost Ones asked to receive a beating at Bleeding Edge and he and Anderson were happy to oblige.

Anderson began to say something when Mysterie stepped in, gently pushing Kennedy away to end the interview. Giant Wraith and Grave stood next to Mysterie. Mysterie looked at Malone and Anderson and wondered if they will be forgotten once they have lost the MoW Team Championships at Bleeding Edge. The Lost Ones walked away as Malone and Anderson looked at each other, shaking their heads.

Tornado vs. Jax Rivers

The main event featured the third encounter between Tornado and Jax Rivers. The tiebreaker match was evenly paced in the opening minutes until Tornado rocked Rivers with a flying knee strike. Tornado worked quickly to wear down Rivers but was unable to keep him down. Rivers fought from underneath and chipped away until he started building a comeback, but Tornado knocked him back down.

Tornado tried for a corkscrew senton, but Rivers rolled out of the way. Rivers fired back with a major offense and dropped Tornado with a flapjack. Rivers covered for the pin, but Tornado managed to roll his shoulder off the mat a split second before the three count. The match continued with Rivers staying in control until an enziguri by Tornado stunned him. Tornado made a small comeback before climbing to the top turnbuckle. Rivers recovered in time to climb the ropes and block Tornado. The two battled on the turnbuckle until Tornado hoisted Rivers into position for a Death Valley driver. Tornado jumped off the turnbuckle and both men crashed hard on the mat. Rivers and Tornado both lay flat on their backs, each with one arm draped over the other. The referee hesitated for a moment but then counted to three, declaring the match a draw with each man pinning each other.

Jax Rivers and Tornado were both disappointed in the outcome and MoW Commissioner Tiger Johnson came out to address the situation. Johnson applauded the competitors’ efforts over the past several weeks and said they deserved a better outcome so they will meet one more time at Bleeding Edge. Rivers and Tornado shared a look of approval with each other as the show ended.
