Masters of Wrestling returned to the road to begin the fall series in Wilkes-Barre, PA.
Beach Brawl Fallout
Tracy Blood captured the MoW Championship from Cate Stiles at Bleeding Edge in May with help from her brother, Mark Blood. Tracy hosted an MMA tournament, Beach Brawl, in July with the winner receiving a shot at her MoW Championship. Though Stiles was not invited to the tournament, she won while competing under the mask of Red Widow.
The Blood siblings came to the ring and Mark congratulated his younger sister on her title win. The audience showed their disapproval of the new champion, which Tracy responded by saying it was her birthright to be at the top of MoW. Tracy continued by saying that she will be a fighting champion but needed to address the Stiles situation. Tracy said that because Stiles was not invited to the tournament, she was disqualified and would not receive the title shot.
Stiles interrupted and said that Tracy could whine about how it happened, but she was coming to reclaim the MoW Championship. Tracy and Stiles argued until MoW Commissioner Tiger Johnson appeared. Johnson told Tracy that she could make any decision she wanted concerning her tournament, but MoW was promised a number one contender and he has decided to honor Stiles’ title opportunity.
Tracy said that was not what was agreed to and suggested that Red Widow should be the number one contender since that was who Stiles masqueraded as. Johnson denied the idea and added that it would not be possible because Red Widow reported to management that her leg was injured the day of the Beach Brawl tournament and would not be cleared to compete. The Blood siblings glare at Stiles, who shrugged in response. Mark told Johnson that he made a mess of everything and has handled the situation poorly. Johnson told the Blood siblings to get over it but added that he would like to see the number one contender in action and announced that Stiles would face the other Beach Brawl finalist, Alexandra Morgan, in the evening’s main event.
Kami King vs. Meghan DeWitt
Kami King had a career breakthrough in 2020 but found herself struggling to recapture that success in 2021. Meghan DeWitt has been looking for a breakthrough of her own. Neither woman found success in Tracy Blood’s Beach Brawl tournament and were hungry for a victory in the opening match of the fall series.
King was in control during the early moments of the match, but DeWitt dodged a clothesline, responded with one of her own, and started to rally an offense of her own. DeWitt got a few near falls on King but could not keep her down. DeWitt used a sleeper hold on King until King broke the hold and started to make a comeback. DeWitt fell victim to a superkick, and King covered her for the pinfall victory.
Separate Ways
Kimberly Kennedy was backstage with Killer Malone and Marty Anderson. Kennedy recapped the lengthy MoW Team Championship run that Malone and Anderson had in MoW and asked what was next for them following the loss of the titles to The Lost Ones.
Anderson said that he and Malone have had a long history together, going back to their early careers in NRWL. Anderson added that their reunion in MoW has been the best time he has ever had in the ring and considers Malone his best friend. He said that despite all of that, each man knew that they have personal goals as well. Malone said that he and Anderson have decided to go their separate ways, for now, and braze their own trails. The former champions shook hands, wished each other well, and walked off in different directions.
Vance McElroy and Matt Griffin vs. MoW Team Champions The Lost Ones w/Mysterie
The Lost Ones, Grave, Giant Wraith and Mysterie, stormed into MoW in 2021 and captured the MoW Team Championships at Bleeding Edge. Mysterie watched her partners demolish Vance McElroy and Matt Griffin in their first outing as the champions of the tag team division. Griffin managed to get Grave off his feet with a drop kick, but the offense ended shortly after. Grave used a chokeslam on Griffin and covered him for the win.
McElroy checked on Griffin after the match but was gorilla pressed over the ropes to the floor. Griffin was tossed through to ropes to join him. The champions stood tall in the ring with Mysterie holding their arms high.
Ready for a Challenge
Kimberly Kennedy was backstage with Jax Rivers. Kennedy praised Rivers’ series of matches against Tornado. Rivers said that Tornado was one of the best he has competed against and said that he wanted to have matches against the best the wrestling world has to offer. Rivers said he was looking for his next opponent and welcomed anyone to face him.
Rivers walked away. Meanwhile, a shadowy silhouette stirred from the darkened hall behind the interview area. The figure turned around and walked further back in the darkness.
Alexandra Morgan vs. Cate Stiles
The main event featured NCSF’s Alexandra Morgan against number one contender Cate Stiles. This rematch from the Beach Brawl finals began with each woman testing their mat wrestling skills. Morgan came out best in the exchange and kept the challenger fighting to break free. Stiles picked up the pace and started to gain ground, but Morgan overpowered Stiles and began a more powerful offense.
Stiles made a comeback and began to weaken Morgan’s legs, taking some of her strength advantage away. Stiles crushed Morgan’s knees and twisted her ankle with submissions. Stiles tried to finish Morgan off with the ankle lock, but Morgan slipped away before she could fully take hold. Morgan crushed Stiles with suplex and managed to pull off a spinning side slam. The move took a lot out of Morgan’s damaged legs, and she was slow to recover and pin Stiles. The delay gave Stiles time to kick out. Morgan tried to follow up on her attack, but Stiles caught her with a flapjack and covered for a pin to win the match.
Cate Stiles’ celebration was short lived as Tracy Blood dove into the ring right after the bell and blasted her with a head kick. The MoW Champion assaulted Stiles until she was joined by Mark Blood. Tracy stood over Stiles’ body while Mark clapped in approval.
