MoW Final Round 2021 Results

Masters of Wrestling concluded the 2021 series with a jam-packed show in Los Angeles, CA.

Steel Cage Match

Claudia Winter vs. Maria Estrella

The show opened with a steel cage match two years in the making. The stakes were high. If Claudia Winter lost, she would have to leave MoW.

Maria Estrella looked confident while Winter looked at the cage walls with concern. Estrella locked up with Winter and overpowered her with little effort. Estrella wasted no time and slammed Winter with suplexes and body slams. Winter tried to crawl away, forgetting about the cage walls, and bumped head first into the chain links.

Winter rolled over and sat on the mat as she tried to persuade Estrella to consider a truce. Estrella wasn’t convinced and grabbed Winter by the hair. Winter surprised Estrella and pulled her to the mat with a chokehold. Estrella escaped but Winter began to batter her with kicks.

Winter grabbed Estrella by the hair, yelled at her, and drove her face into the steel cage. Estrella bounced off the cage and Winter drove knees into her midsection. Winter tried to wear down Estrella with submissions until Estrella broke free.

Estrella was on the defensive until Winter tried for a leaping knee strike. Estrella dodged and Winter bounced over the rope and crashed into the cage, sliding down the cage wall. Winter yelled out in pain as Estrella dragged her face across the cage.

Winter was hoisted on Estrella’s shoulder for a running powerslam but slipped free and smashed Estrella with a knee strike to the face as she turned around. Estrella fell backward to the mat and rolled to her side. Blood pooled on the mat and the referee went to check on her.

Estrella was bleeding from her broken nose while Winter watched the referee talk to her. Winter motioned to the aisle and The Diamond Peak’s Preston Montgomery and Pierre Laurent ran down to the ring with a kendo stick and a metal chain. They passed the weapons to Winter through the cage wall as Estrella assured the referee she wanted to continue.

The referee turned to look at Winter and barely had time to dodge her as she ran at Estrella and hit her in the face with the kendo stick. Winter whipped the stick all over Estrella’s body. Estrella tried in vain to fend off the strikes.

Winter tossed the kendo stick aside and picked up the metal chain. She looked ready to use it as a whip on Estrella. Jessie Vega ran down to ringside and shook the cage to get Winter’s attention. Vega pleaded with Winter to stop, which Winter found amusing. The distraction worked in Estrella’s favor anyway as she kicked Winter in the knee cap, sending her attacker to the mat. Estrella grabbed the chain and used it on Winter.

Winter was in trouble as welts and cuts grew across her shoulders and back. Winter tried to reach the kendo stick but Estrella kicked it away where Vega was able to pull it back out of the cage. Montgomery and Laurent tried to intercept Vega but were struck with the stick for their troubles.

Estrella picked up Winter for a running powerslam and was about to drive her to the mat when she saw Laurent pull the kendo stick from Vega’s hands as Montgomery held her in a full Nelson. Laurent prodded Vega’s stomach with the stick, threatening to hit her with it. Estrella dropped Winter and yelled at Laurent and Montgomery to let her go. Laurent turned his attention to Estrella and told her to shut up. While Estrella was distracted, Winter picked up the steel chain, balled it up, and hit Estrella with it from behind. Winter followed up with a backstabber and covered for a pin. Estrella was unable to kick out, and Winter won the match, securing her future in MoW.

Claudia Winter escaped from the cage door and ran to Preston Montgomery and Pierre Laurent in the aisle where they celebrated before heading backstage. Back in the ring, Jessie Vega checked on Maria Estrella. Estrella sat in the ring, beaten, injured, and disappointed. Vega cried and apologized for costing her the match. Estrella took Vega’s head and hugged her gently as she looked around the arena with a dazed look in her eyes.

Cole Arcane and Rex Anarchy vs. “Badlands” Bill Stanton and The Convict

The unlikely partnership of Cole Arcane and Rex Anarchy faced the veteran team of “Badlands” Bill Stanton and The Convict. Arcane wasted no time locking up with The Convict and bringing him to his knees. Arcane kept on the attack until The Convict jabbed him in the eye and made a tag to Stanton.

Stanton used a brainbuster on Arcane before cutting him off from tagging in Anarchy. Stanton and The Convict made frequent tags and broke Arcane down in a slow, vicious assault. Arcane continued to fight back, blocking a piledriver from Stanton and turning it into a back body drop. Arcane crawled to the corner to tag in Anarchy.

Anarchy cleared the ring of both Stanton and The Convict. Stanton and The Convict tried to regroup on the outside but Arcane blindsided both of them. Arcane rolled The Convict into the ring and brawled with Stanton. Anarchy subdued The Convict and used a fisherman’s suplex on him. Anarchy was about to go for the pin but looked to his corner where Arcane had returned to the ring apron. Anarchy pointed The Convict, pointed to Arcane, and tagged Arcane in.

Arcane dropped The Convict with a running bulldog while Anarchy clotheslined Stanton before he could intervene. Arcane covered The Convict for a pin and won the match.

Cole Arcane and Rex Anarchy celebrated in the ring separately and then stood face to face. The two had a brief discussion, Arcane extended his hand and Anarchy shook his hand.

MoW Team Championship Six Person Match

Andre Jordan, Snarl, and Lucia Mendez vs. The Lost Ones (Grave, Giant Wraith, and Mysterie) (c)

The MoW Team Championships were on the line and Andre Jordan, Snarl, and Lucia Mendez were looking for payback against the The Lost Ones.

The match was contested under tornado tag rules and, as expected, was a chaotic brawl between both teams. Snarl and Jordan knocked Grave out of the ring and double teamed Giant Wraith while Mysterie and Mendez sparred.

Grave recovered and evened the odds by coming to Giant Wraith’s aid. Jordan was crushed with a double chokeslam. Snarl stood up to Grave and Giant Wraith and brawled with them both but lost the numbers game. Snarl was beaten down by The Lost Ones while Jordan slowly recovered. Mendez took a drop kick from Mysterie that sent her whiplashing against a turnbuckle.

The Lost Ones were closing in on victory after a double chokeslam on Snarl. Grave covered for the pin but Jordan dove on him to break it. Giant Wraith tossed Jordan aside and pulled Snarl to his feet, preparing to chokeslam the MoW legend. Snarl broke the chokehold, kicked Giant Wraith in the gut and powerbombed him to the mat. Mendez clotheslined Grave and then rebounded off the ropes to cross body block Mysterie, sending both women through the ropes to the floor. Snarl covered Giant Wraith for a pin but Grave broke it up. Jordan intercepted Grave while Snarl and Giant Wraith continued to fight.

Snarl shoved Giant Wraith backward and before Giant Wraith tried to push back, Mysterie jumped off the top turnbuckle onto the back of Snarl. Snarl tried to swat her away but then grabbed her shoulders and threw her over his head into the arms of Giant Wraith. Jordan kicked Giant Wraith, sending him and Mysterie to the mat. Grave approached Jordan but was met with a drop kick by Mendez. Jordan ran at Grave and used a belly to belly suplex on him. Jordan covered for a pin and got the three count, securing victory and earning Snarl and him the MoW Team Championships.

Andre Jordan looked stunned as Snarl handed him a championship belt, the first in his career. Lucia Mendez hugged both men and the team celebrated their victory.

Mysterie tried to regroup with her Lost One teammates outside the ring. Grave and Giant Wraith rejected her attempt to console them and left her standing alone at ringside.

Jax Rivers vs. Dr. Insidious

Dr. Insidious made a shocking return at War Stories and attacked Jax Rivers. Rivers had a tough task of fighting off his tormentor.

Dr. Insidious stopped Rivers’s early efforts to attack by using a slow, methodical series of punches and body slams. Rivers dropped Insidious with a double arm DDT but Insidious got back up and used a sidewalk slam to cut off Rivers from building an offense.

Rivers was thrown into a turnbuckle and crushed with a body splash. Rivers fell to the mat as Dr. Insidious toyed with him, kicking his arm away from the ropes and stomping on him as he tried to get to his knees. Dr. Insidious set up Rivers for a piledriver but Rivers broke free and used a flapjack to finally stop Insidious’s momentum.

Rivers made a spirited comeback, first with fists, then with a series of clotheslines and drop kicks from the ropes. Rivers suplexed Insidious and was ready to use another flapjack to finish him off. Insidious head butted Rivers instead, sending Rivers stumbling through the ropes and falling to the floor.

Insidious followed Rivers to the outside and attempted another piledriver on the hard floor. Rivers once again blocked the attempt and back body dropped Insidious. Rivers waited for Insidious to stand and dropped him with a flapjack on the floor.

Rivers grabbed Insidious by his mask and was about to roll him into the ring when the ring steps caught his eye. Rivers dragged Insidious near the steps and used another flapjack. Insidious landed with a sickening crash on the steps.

Rivers rolled Insidious into the ring and, following another flapjack in the center of the ring, covered for a pin. Dr. Insidious was unable to kick out and Jax Rivers was declared the winner.

Alexandra Morgan vs. Tracy Blood

The Blood family and the NCSF crew had been at odds throughout the fall season, leading to Alexandra Morgan and Tracy Blood settling their differences in the ring.

Morgan showed a strong offense in the opening moments, causing Blood to try to slow things down by stepping back or sliding out of the ring to get space between them. Morgan was clearly annoyed but waited for her next opportunity to strike.

Morgan found her moment and suplexed Blood across the ring. Blood recovered and tried for a kick to Morgan’s side but Morgan caught Blood’s leg and tossed her away. Morgan tried to pin Blood, but the former champion refused to stay down.

Morgan attempted a vertical suplex that Blood reversed but the move was close to the turnbuckle causing Morgan to hit the top turnbuckle with her shoulder before tumbling to the floor. Morgan was slow to get up and Blood climbed outside the ring to further damage Morgan’s damaged shoulder.

Blood was now building momentum as the contest returned to the ring. Blood ground down Morgan’s shoulder with holds and submissions. Morgan tried for body slam but her shoulder had lost too much strength. Morgan persisted and did begin a comeback against Blood, managing to pull off a spinning side slam. The move took too much out of Morgan and she was unable to cover for a pin before Blood could recover.

Morgan tried to hit Blood with a big boot, but Blood ducked and did a leg sweep that knocked Morgan down to the mat. Morgan stood up but got caught with a head kick. Blood covered for a pin to win the match.

Tracy Blood was declared winner and stood proud in the ring. She motioned toward a camera and when it was focused on her, she said one down, one to go, referencing her brother’s title defense later in the night.

MoW Championship Match

Shannon Worth w/Claudia Winter vs. Cate Stiles (c)

The first of two main events featured Shannon Worth looking to capture her first championship against the three-time MoW Champion, Cate Stiles. Worth was joined at ringside by Claudia Winter, who looked to be in rough shape following her cage match earlier in the night.

Worth and Stiles tied up in the middle of the ring. Worth won on the exchange and following a headlock, hip tossed Stiles across the ring. Stiles paused and considered Worth for a moment before locking up again. Stiles won on the second exchange with a head lock of her own, followed by an Irish whip and a drop kick.

Little time passed before Stiles focused her offense on Worth’s legs to setup for an ankle lock submission. Winter coached Worth from the floor and Worth kept focus and fended off Stiles. Worth blocked a German suplex and swung an elbow backward, knocking Stiles backward.

Worth began a comeback that displayed her vicious side. Stiles was blasted with fists, DDTs, suplexes, and slams. Winter encouraged Worth to keep up the pace. Stiles kicked out of several pin attempts but the struggle became harder for the champion as the match continued.

Worth tried for a drop kick but Stiles caught her foot and transitioned into an ankle lock. Worth struggled and cried out in pain while Winter screamed on the outside. Worth reached the ropes to break the hold but this was enough for Stiles to come back to the offense. Stiles concentrated all efforts on further damaging Worth’s leg. Winter climbed up on the apron several times to yell at Stiles.

Winter’s antagonizing on the outside earned her a visit from Stiles. Winter tried to smooth the situation but Stiles grabbed her by the hair and laid in some punches before dropping her to the floor with a flap jack. Winter was motionless on the floor and the crowd cheered as Stiles returned to the ring.

Worth was hobbling but the altercation between Stiles and Winter gave her time to recover. Stiles tried to finish the match with another ankle lock but Worth kicked away. Stiles attempted a flap jack on Worth, but Worth wrapped her legs around Stiles’s waist and turned the move into a guillotine choke. The submission wasn’t enough to stop the champion but did allow Worth the chance to get on equal footing.

Stiles used a back suplex on Worth but Worth back flipped over Stiles and smashed her from behind with a clothesline. Stiles began to get to her feet and Worth nailed her with a spinning elbow. Worth covered and won the match by pinfall. Shannon Worth had become the new MoW Champion.

Shannon Worth stood in the ring and was overjoyed to be handed the MoW Championship belt. Fellow Diamond Peak members Preston Montgomery and Pierre Laurent ran down to the ring, helped Claudia Winter get into the ring, and celebrated with the new champion. Worth hugged Winter who looked proud of her new champion.

MoW Championship Match

Tornado vs. Mark Blood (c)

The second main event saw NCSF’s Tornado challenging his rival, Mark Blood, for the MoW Championship. The match began with a tense staredown as both men shared inaudible, but clearly unpleasant, words.

Tornado and Blood traded offense until Blood caught Tornado with a clothesline and followed up with a headlock on the mat. Blood slowed the pace of the match and methodically focused attacks on Tornado’s back and shoulders. Blood maintained firm control until a jawbreaker by Tornado stunned him. The champion caught a front flip kick that sent him crashing to the mat.

Tornado sped up the match pace and kept Blood trying to defend himself from all directions. Tornado used flying clotheslines, cross body blocks, springboard sentons, and a hurricanrana that sent Blood spilling to the outside. Blood tried to recover outside the ring but was crushed by Tornado, who had leapt from the top turnbuckle to the floor. Tornado threw Blood back into the ring and used a corkscrew splash from the top turnbuckle to further damage the champion.

Tornado went for a pin but Blood kicked out. Tornado kept on the offense until Blood caught a cross body block, turned Tornado upside down, and dropped him with a tombstone piledriver. Blood covered, but to his dismay, Tornado kicked out.

Blood stomped on Tornado’s back before using a Boston crab. Tornado struggled but managed to break free of the hold. Blood continued on the attack and went for a second tombstone piledriver. Tornado shifted his weight and caused Blood to fall backward. Tornado hung on, landed on his feet and stood up, now having Blood in position for a tombstone piledriver. Tornado crushed Blood to the mat with the piledriver, signaled for the turnbuckle, climbed it, and dove off with a corkscrew splash. Tornado covered for the pin and Blood was unable to kick out. Tornado won the match and was declared the new MoW Champion.

Tornado celebrated in the ring but when he was handed the MoW Championship, reality set in and he looked stunned. Tornado stared at the belt for a long moment before holding it high over his head and took in the cheers from the audience. Tornado’s NCSF partner, Alexandra Morgan, ran down to the ring eager to congratulate her friend.

Morgan directed Tornado’s attention to the aisle as Hardcore Adam and Tornado’s father, SCSF legend Cyclone, came down to ringside. Tornado became emotional as his mentors surrounded him in an embrace. Adam held Tornado’s hand high in the air. Cyclone patted his son on the shoulder and looked proud.

While the celebration continued in the ring, Tornado’s music cut off and was replaced with the old SCSF theme music. Everyone in the ring looked at each other confused. The audience burst into applause as SCSF founder Mr. Charles made a rare appearance and came down to the ring. Charles spoke something to Tornado, shook his hand, and then offered to place the MoW Championship around Tornado’s waist. Tornado’s music began to play again and Charles joined everyone in celebrating his victory.

Tornado stood tall in the ring, surrounded by family and friends, ready to lead Masters of Wrestling into 2022.
