Masters of Wrestling returns with the first show of 2022.
An Anarchistic Bump in the Road
The show began with former MoW Champion Mark Blood coming to the ring to address his loss to Tornado at Final Round 2021.
Blood congratulated Tornado on winning the title from him and said that everyone must be happy with their new champion, which got a large cheering response from the crowd. Blood said that everyone is excited for the future with the new champion, including the reclusive SCSF founder Mr. Charles, who came out to congratulate Tornado. Blood questioned why MoW founder C.W. Sunderland never came out to congratulate him during either of his title wins.
Blood said that despite everything he and his family has done for MoW and how much he has strived to be the hero of MoW, nobody respects him. Blood said that none of that matters because he will fix everything by winning the title back and demanded a rematch.
Rex Anarchy came out to interrupt Blood. Anarchy said he has been hunting Blood for a long time and Blood won’t dodge him again. Anarchy told Blood that he thinks he is a hero to MoW but nobody asked for one because MoW is doing fine. Anarchy said that Blood should forget about a title shot until they settle their unfinished business.
MoW Commissioner Tiger Johnson entered the arena to make sense to the situation. Johnson said that he would make both men happy. Johnson announced that Mark Blood will be challenging Tornado for the MoW Championship next week on the debut episode of MoW Rapid Fire. Anarchy and Blood will compete in the main event of next week’s Horizon and should Blood win the MoW Championship from Tornado, the title will be on the line.
Kami King vs. Siobhan Wild
Siobhan Wild made her MoW debut against Kami King in a match that tested King’s refined offense against the energetic Wild.
King’s time in MoW made her a better wrestler and that showed in the early moments of the match. King outwrestled Wild and thwarted the newcomer’s attempts to attack. King tried to stop Wild early with a super kick as Wild ran off the ropes but Wild dropped to a baseball slide, spun back to her feet and hit King with a drop kick to the face.
Wild was in control and hit King from all corners with a high speed offense. Wild suplexed King, burst to her feet, and dropped on King with a standing front flip splash. Wild tried for a pin but King kicked out.
Wild tried for another suplex but King blocked the attempt and responded with one of her own. King started a slow and steady comeback that culminated in a super kick to Wild and a pinfall victory.
Following the match, Kimberly Kennedy joined Kami King outside the ring to ask her what was next in her MoW journey. King said that she became a pro wrestler despite all the people who doubted her. She kept coming back through setbacks and injuries and will continue to do so. King admitted that the fans haven’t always agreed with her decisions but she is a girl with a dream of becoming MoW Champion and finding her own way to the title.
Who Goes First
Former MoW Champion Cate Stiles entered the ring to address her loss to new MoW Champion, Shannon Worth. Stiles admitted Worth was the better wrestler that night, but that it was only one night. Stiles said that everybody gets lucky once in a while and suggested that a rematch would not go the same way. Stiles then declared her intention of getting a rematch, as soon as possible, to make things right and reclaim the MoW Championship.
Stiles’s challenge for a rematch did not go unanswered, but it was answered by someone unexpected. Wildheart Wrestling Club’s final champion and most popular star, Kassidy Fortune, joined Stiles in the ring. Fortune acknowledged Stiles as a great champion and deserving of a rematch, but said that Stiles needs to step aside. Fortune recalled the end of the WWC farewell show where her victory was interrupted by MoW Champion Shannon Worth. Fortune said Worth’s interruption was a slap in the face, not just to her, but to all of WWC’s hard working wrestlers and dedicated fans. Fortune said she would not rest until she settled the score.
Stiles found Fortune’s suggestion that she step aside funny. Stiles said she doesn’t step aside for anyone, especially not a newcomer. Stiles told Fortune she can have the scraps when she is done with Worth. Fortune respected Stiles’s desire to reclaim the title but pointed out that Stiles lost and Worth has since picked a fight with someone else. Fortune refused to be intimidated by Stiles.
Stiles looked Fortune in the eyes and welcomed her to MoW, which Stiles described as her den, and warned Fortune to be careful about where she walks. Stiles then dropped her microphone and walked off, leaving Fortune to watch her leave the ring.
Love
Maria Estrella was backstage with Jessie Vega. Estrella asked Vega if she was ready for her match with Carolina Deene on Rapid Fire. Vega said she was and Estrella assured her that she will be at ringside to celebrate when Vega wins.
Vega looked concerned and asked Estrella why she hasn’t given up on her, even after costing Estrella the steel cage match at Final Round. Estrella looked confused and told Vega that would never give up on her. Estrella took Vega’s hand and told Vega that she loved her. Estrella kissed Vega, smiled, and then walked off. Vega was left beaming as she watched Estrella leave.
New Champ and a New Client?
Maria Estrella passed by Kimberly Kennedy in the hallway just as Kennedy reached the door of The Diamond Peak’s dressing room. Kennedy knocked on the door and was invited by Pierre Laurent, who tried to flirt with her. Kennedy casually brushed off his advances and called to MoW Champion Shannon Worth, asking to have a word with her.
Worth stood proud with the MoW Championship slung over her shoulder. Kennedy congratulated Worth on winning the title at Final Round. Worth said she had a lot of doubters but proved everyone wrong by defeating Cate Stiles. Kennedy remarked that Worth has a full plate with Stiles looking for a rematch and Kassidy Fortune looking for her after Worth confronted the Wildheart Wrestling Club star at their farewell show. Worth dismissed both saying that she beat Stiles once and can do it again and confronting Fortune was to let everyone in WWC know that MoW is her house now.
Kennedy was about to ask another question but there was a knock at the door. Claudia Winter interrupted and told Kennedy the interview was over because she had a meeting. Kennedy looked confused, then shocked, as Killer Malone walked into the room. Malone stopped to look at Kennedy and the camera before Winter escorted him to another area of the dressing room.
Balance and Ridge vs. MoW Team Champions Andre Jordan and Snarl w/Lucia Mendez
The main event featured the new MoW Team Champions, Andre Jordan and Snarl, in an exhibition against the veteran team of Balance and Ridge.
Ridge and Jordan started the match for their teams and traded takedowns and throws. Jordan tried for a German suplex but Ridge flipped in mid air and landed on his feet. Ridge hit Jordan with a clothesline and then tagged in Balance. Balance and Ridge traded tags as they ground down Jordan.
Lucia Mendez cheered on her boyfriend at ringside as he tried to make a tag to Snarl. Ridge tried for a running senton splash but Jordan rolled away. Jordan clawed his way to his corner and tagged in Snarl just as Ridge grabbed his ankle. Snarl leaped through the ropes and blasted Ridge across the ring with a shoulder block.
Snarl threw Ridge around the ring several times until he was stopped by an enziguri by Ridge. This stunned Snarl just long enough for Ridge to tag in Balance. Balance wasted no time taking the fight to Snarl and had the champion in position for a double arm DDT. Snarl broke free before Balance could execute and back dropped Balance. Snarl went on the attack, which continued until Balance was driven to the mat with a powerbomb. Snarl looked to Jordan, pointed at him, and then tagged in his partner.
Jordan climbed the turnbuckle and leapt onto his own partner. Snarl caught Jordan, spun around, and powerbombed Jordan, who landed onto Balance with an elbow drop. Jordan covered for the pin, Snarl blocked Ridge from interfering, and the MoW Team Champions picked up the win.
Snarl, Andre Jordan, and Lucia Mendez celebrated in the ring to close out the first MoW show of 2022.
