Masters of Wrestling debuted its brand new show, Rapid Fire, with six matches, including an MoW Championship match!
Oleg Azarov vs. Big Time Stratton
Oleg Azarov returned to the MoW ring to take on indie wrestling veteran Big Time Stratton.
Azarov locked up with Stratton and overpowered him with a takedown. Stratton scoffed at Azarov and then interacted with the crowd by yelling to them that Azarov thinks he’s so tough. Stratton turned and ran at Azarov with a clothesline but Azarov ducked and threw Stratton overhead.
Azarov maintained momentum as the match continued until a late match comeback by Stratton. Stratton held Azarov by the hair as he yelled to the crowd that he would send him back to Russia. Azarov hit Stratton with forearms and made a quick comeback of his own before drilling Stratton with a spike piledriver. Azarov covered Stratton for a pin to win the match.
Hector Diaz vs. John Austin Baker
Hector Diaz made his MoW debut against roughneck MoW mainstay, John Austin Baker.
Diaz found himself on the receiving end of a torrent of offense by Baker that knocked him dizzy early on. Baker reached for Diaz’s shoulders but Diaz had a surprise for him and rolled Baker up with a small package. Baker kicked out but Diaz began to show fire in his own offense as the match continued.
A spirited Diaz clubbed Baker with a running double axe handle and then climbed the turnbuckle. Diaz launched off the top rope for a body splash but Baker caught Diaz and slammed him into the mat. Baker hit Diaz with a running lariat and covered for a pin. John Austin Baker was declared winner.
Paisley Alden vs. Sheena
Paisley Alden entered her second year in MoW looking for a win against newcomer Sheena.
The bell rang, Alden looked ready to lock up with her much taller, stronger opponent. Sheena shoved Alden backward and Alden responded by hitting her with punches. Sheena grabbed Alden’s fist and transitioned her grip into an armbar. Sheena threw Alden into a turnbuckle and then ran at her with a clothesline.
Sheena wasted no time hitting Alden with running attacks from the ropes, a huge vertical suplex, and a powerslam. Alden staggered to her feet as Sheena lined her up and blasted her with a running boot. Sheena pushed her palm down on Alden’s chest for a pin to win the match.
Jessie Vega w/Maria Estrella vs. Carolina Deene
Carolina Deene made her MoW debut against Jessie Vega. Vega’s girlfriend, Maria Estrella, gave her words of encouragement before stepping out of the ring to watch from ringside.
Vega and Deene locked up and traded offense in the early moments. Deene got Vega in an abdominal stretch, using a ring rope for more leverage when the referee wasn’t looking. Estrella alerted the referee of Deene’s cheating and when confronted by the referee, Deene let go of the hold. Deene argued with Estrella to stay out of her business. Vega took advantage of the distracted Deene and used a schoolboy pin. Deene kicked out but Vega went on the attack.
Vega hit Deene with a trio of clotheslines off the ropes before hitting a drop kick. Vega focused her offense on Deene’s back and neck with submissions, slams, and an atomic drop. Deene broke Vega’s momentum using a jawbreaker on her and then yelled to the crowd that she broke Vega’s pretty smile. Deene tossed Vega off the ropes to go for a Frankensteiner but Vega rolled to the side and suplexed Deene.
Vega made a quick comeback before using a frogsplash off the top turnbuckle. Vega pinned Deene for the win.
Jessie Vega and Maria Estrella celebrated in the ring while Caroline Deene looked angry as she recovered on the outside.
Matt Griffin and Vance McElroy vs. The Diamond Peak (Preston Montgomery and Pierre Laurent) w/Claudia Winter
The Diamond Peak faced the familiar team of Vance McElroy and Matt Griffin. Preston Montgomery started off against Griffin, maintained an early lead, and began frequent tags with Pierre Laurent.
Laurent had Griffin in a headlock and mocked him. Griffin jabbed Laurent with elbows and broke free, starting a spirited comeback before tagging in McElroy.
McElroy cleared house and knocked both Laurent and Montgomery out of the ring. Claudia Winter angrily demanded her team get back into the ring. McElroy and Griffin continued to keep The Diamond Peak on the defensive until Laurent snuck in an eye gouge on Griffin.
The Diamond Peak capitalized on this change of fortune and Laurent forced Griffin to submit to an STF to win the match.
Following the match, Claudia Winter grabbed a microphone and warned MoW Team Champions Andre Jordan and Snarl that The Diamond Peak was coming for them.
MoW Championship Match
Mark Blood vs. Tornado (c)
In a big rematch from Final Round 2021, Mark Blood looked to regain the MoW Championship from Tornado. The bitter rivals shared words before the referee sent them to their corners to begin the first main event in MoW Rapid Fire history.
Blood set the pace with arm holds and headlocks on Tornado. Blood added pressure to Tornado’s back with slams and submissions. Tornado fed off the support of the crowd and broke free of Blood’s clutches before throwing the challenger with an exploder suplex.
Tornado revved up the crowd as he went high speed off the ropes and hit Blood with flying forearms and dropkicks. Tornado used a fall away slam on Blood. Blood rolled out of the ring to recover and argued with rowdy fans before re-entering the ring where Tornado was waiting to lock up with him.
Blood kneed Tornado in the stomach which began a slow, methodical attack on the champion. Blood weakened Tornado’s back and tried for a few pins but Tornado kicked out. Tornado was thrown into the turnbuckle chest first and fell on his back in pain. Blood pulled Tornado up by his chin and scooped him up for a tombstone piledriver. Tornado smashed his knees together with Blood’s head in between, causing Blood to release Tornado. Tornado came back at Blood with strikes and slams before hitting Blood in the head with a flying knee. With Blood down on the mat, Tornado used a corkscrew splash from the top rope and covered for a pin. Blood was unable to kick out and Tornado successfully defended the MoW Championship.
Tornado celebrated his victory in the ring to the cheers of the crowd. Mark Blood sat outside the ring, holding his head and looking baffled at the audience.
