A Killer Storm

The summer season kicked off with MoW Champion Tornado coming to the ring to address the live crowd. The champion said MoW in 2022 was the hottest its ever been and a red hot summer is going to make things ever hotter. Tornado acknowledged Cole Arcane as a strong challenger at the System Crash supershow and knew more challenges were to come the longer he held the championship. Confidently, Tornado said he was ready for anyone.

Claudia Winter came down to the ring with her client, Killer Malone, to confront Tornado. Winter admitted Tornado was a fine MoW Champion and believed him when he said he was ready for any challenger, though she felt he gave himself too much credit. Winter said there was one challenger he could not overcome and that challenger was Killer Malone.

Malone, with his long hair tied back and dressed in a black suit and tie, told Tornado he he was impressed watching him defend the title but he’s holding the title at the wrong time. Malone said it was his time to claim the top prize. Tornado scoffed at Malone’s comment saying he had a decade to reach the top and has never done so. Winter, amused, suggested that Malone has merely been overlooked too many times but now has her to get him the opportunities he needs.

Tornado said he didn’t care how Malone got to the front of the line but he’ll defeat Malone just like he would anyone else. Malone and Tornado stared each other down before Winter tapped Malone and drew him back from the champion. Tornado held up the MoW Championship as his new challenger left the ring and watched him with a distance.

Matt Griffin and Vance McElroy vs. The Navigators (Aidan North and Pete Arrow)

Matt Griffin and Vance McElroy never had much success in MoW but tried to change that in a tag team bout against The Navigators. McElroy held his own against Aidan North before tagging in Griffin to continue keeping on the offensive.

Griffin tried multiple pin attempts but could not keep North down. A body slam reversed into a neckbreaker gave North an opening to start making a comeback for The Navigators. North subdued Griffin with standing strikes before blasting him with a drop kick that sent Griffin spilling out of the ring.

North tagged in Pete Arrow while McElroy checked on Griffin outside the ring. Arrow goaded Griffin to return to the ring. Griffin did but immediately tagged McElroy into the match. McElroy fought hard but could not overcome the strength of Arrow. Arrow tagged North, picked up McElroy for a powerbomb, and North used a shooting star press to land on McElroy on his way down from the powerbomb. North covered McElroy to win the match.

The Navigators celebrated their victory and left ringside. Back inside the ring, Vance McElroy and Matt Griffin collected themselves in the ring. McElroy began to walk away but was hit from behind by Griffin with a clothesline. Griffin savagely attacked his longtime tag team partner before storming off.

New Music

Kimberly Kennedy was backstage interviewing Jessie Vega about her new album release. Vega’s girlfriend, Maria Estrella, was at her side. Kennedy commented on the album, titled “Journeys”, being well received and Vega said it was surpassing all expectations. Vega called it her most ambitious work and Estrella chimed in that she was so proud of Vega. Kennedy asked what was next for Vega’s music career, which Vega revealed that she would be touring in support of the album in 2023.

Dezzy Nightshade nudged Kennedy aside and confronted Vega. Nightshade said she hears about Jessie Vega, the rock star, everywhere she goes and has read the reviews of her new album. Nightshade had a review of her own and called the Vega’s album lacking in substance and was cookie cutter pop music. Estrella and Vega stepped up to Nightshade but Nightshade held up her hands and said it was just an opinion before stepping away. Vega looked annoyed but shrugged off the odd encounter before walking off with Estrella.

Mia Mercury is Coming to MoW

Highlights of a Wildheart Wrestling Club match featuring Mia Mercury and Carolina Deene was shown for the audience. Mercury was shown landing badly on her leg and injuring her knee. Mercury was heard on a voiceover describing the depression she felt being out of action.

Footage of Mercury leaving a hospital on crutches, resting at home, and rehabbing her knee with trainers are shown. Mercury’s voiceover said despite the setback she refused to give up her dream of being a wrestler.

Footage showing Mercury training in a wrestling ring is shown. Finally, a shot of Mia Mercury standing in the MoW ring looking around an empty arena is shown. The camera focused on Mercury’s determined face and her voiceover said she was ready and coming to MoW.

The scene faded to black and displayed the message “Mia Mercury Arrives Next Week”.

Can You Do That Again?

Tracy Blood came to the ring to address her match against Kagero Sato at System Crash. Blood had heard that Sato was the best that Japan had to offer and when she came to MoW, Blood knew she needed to know if that was true. Blood admitted that Sato defeated her at System Crash and lived up to her reputation. Blood questioned if she was truly the best, however, and said that her win at System Crash was one win and suggested that Sato may have gotten lucky.

Sato joined Blood in the ring and asked if Blood was asking for a rematch. Blood said she was and Sato accepted the challenge, suggesting they fight immediately. Blood waved off Sato’s suggestion and said she could wait until next week’s show. Blood said she was looking forward to their match and walked off as the crowd booed her.

The Landscape Has Changed

Kimberly Kennedy stood in the ring and introduced former MoW Champion, the returning Aurora Starkey, who came down to ringside greeting fans on her way. Kennedy welcomed Starkey back to MoW. Starkey said it was good to be back and noted that a lot had changed, including the current MoW Champion. Starkey noted Shannon Worth’s rise to the top and said it was an impressive feat but Starkey wanted to test the champion to see if she was the real deal or a fluke.

Claudia Winter led MoW Champion Shannon Worth to the ring and told Starkey she should give Worth more respect. Winter suggested Starkey left MoW when she realized the competition was getting too hot as Worth began her takeover of the women’s division. Starkey was quick to dismiss the remark as laughable but Winter continued, calling Worth a symbol of MoW’s future and Starkey a symbol of its past.

Starkey was unnerved by Winter’s criticism and challenged Worth to accept her challenge for the MoW Championship to try and prove Winter’s words. Winter whispered something to Worth and then told Starkey that she wasn’t in line for a title shot but Worth would welcome a non-title match at the next Rapid Fire show. Starkey agreed to the match, but demanded a title match at War on the Shore if she wins. Worth agreed to the stipulation, saying it was meaningless because Starkey would learn a sad lesson at Rapid Fire.

Kami King vs. Mysterie

The main event featured Kami King and Mysterie in singles action. The women circled the canvas before locking up where King took the early offense with a headlock takedown, submissions, and attacks to Mysterie’s back and legs to slow the high flier down.

Mysterie jabbed an elbow to King’s gut as she was being pulled off the mat and used the opportunity to stop King’s momentum. Mysterie hit King with quick strikes and some acrobatic moves off the ropes. Mysterie was building offensive rhythm but was slow to recover from her landings due to King’s focused attacks earlier in the match.

Mysterie caught King with a moonsault from the top turnbuckle and covered for a pin, though was unsuccessful in keeping King down. Mysterie returned to her high risk offense that culminated in a springboard 450 splash. King kicked out of another pin attempt which angered Mysterie. The masked luchador got more aggressive, cracking King with hard-hitting strikes and a vicious swinging neckbreaker. King was on the mat as Mysterie climbed the turnbuckle and tried a shooting star press. King rolled out of the way and Mysterie crashed on the mat.

King crawled to the ropes and pulled herself up. Mysterie was getting to her feet just as King moved in for a superkick. Mysterie dodged the kick but King persisted in her efforts and took down Mysterie with suplexes. A staggering Mysterie walked into King’s superkick and fell to the mat where King covered for a pin and won the match.

Kami King celebrated her victory to close out the show.
