Columbia, OH saw the continuation of the MoW Wildheart Championship tournament, a number one contender match, appearances by Cate Stiles, Cole Arcane, and more.

MoW Wildheart Championship Tournament Continues

The next round of the tournament to determine the inaugural MoW Wildheart Championship continued with two competitive matches.

Tracy Blood and Kagero Sato clashed in a match that saw Blood coming out strong early on with hard strikes and quick takedowns. Sato blocked a body kick and rolled Blood to the ground before unleashing a series of suplexes and throws on the former MoW Champion. The action heated up with neither woman wanting to give in but it was a head kick from Blood that allowed her to pin Sato and advance in the tournament.

Chez Everett looked for her big break in the tournament in a match against Mia Mercury. Mercury found herself on the receiving end of Everett’s technical offense but was able to shift the momentum of the match when she hit a shining wizard on Everett. Everett made a late match comeback but was unable to secure the win before Mercury took down Everett and using a flying elbow drop to secure a pinfall victory. This victory placed Mia Mercury into the next round of the tournament.

Southern Charm

MoW Correspondent Kimberly Kennedy was backstage to interview MoW newcomer Mary Jane Elder. Kennedy welcomed Elder to the promotion and said that while she was defeated in her first round tournament match, she made a strong first impression.

Before Elder could respond, she was interrupted by Carolina Deene. Deene was defeated by Elder in Elder’s debut match several weeks ago and warned Kennedy not to overhype Elder.

“I understand that Mary Jane Elder here is a new face and it is always exciting to see new faces. But, Mary Jane, honey child, you got a lucky win over me and you haven’t had any further success. Wouldn’t you say it’s a little early to make people think you will be somebody? We can’t all be success stories.” -Carolina Deene

Deene walked off, leaving Elder without an opportunity to respond to her criticism.

Unwind

Paisley Alden walked in to a locker room and found a frustrated Alexandra Morgan. Alden asked Morgan what was bothering her and Morgan was upset over her first round loss in the Wildheart Championship tournament. Alden, who had also lost her first round match, sympathized with Morgan and offered a solution.

“You are too hard on yourself. That’s all. Maybe… you just need to unwind? Why don’t you come hangout with my new boyfriend and me.” -Paisley Alden

Morgan asked Alden who her boyfriend was and, on cue, Cool Spencer stepped in and sidled up to Alden. Spencer encouraged Morgan to hang out and take her mind off of things. Morgan was open to the idea and left with the couple.

Mikey Armstrong vs. “Badlands” Bill Stanton

Mikey Armstrong had a tough night in the ring when he faced “Badlands” Bill Stanton. Armstrong looked confident early in the match but Stanton’s roughhouse offense took the mat wrestler out of his comfort zone. The hardcore legend opened a small cut on Armstrong’s forehead with a headbutt. Armstrong was dazed from the blow but did manage a comeback and pinned Stanton following an exploder suplex.

Kimberly Kennedy was ringside to interview Mikey Armstrong after the match. Armstrong described his match with Stanton as a savage encounter.

“I nearly died of blood loss in the ring tonight. I. Could. Have. Died. It’s a miracle I am able to speak to you now but, sure enough, I live to fight another day! I will continue to push forward because I love being a wrestler!!!” -Mikey Armstrong

Armstrong offered Kennedy a high five but after receiving only a confused looked from her, he walked off.

Old vs. New

MoW Team Champions Preston Montgomery and Pierre Laurent found Hardcore Adam backstage. The champions mocked Adam for thinking he has a chance of taking the titles from them.

“You were competing in the ring long before either of us were born! And you expect to be able to out wrestle us?” -Pierre Laurent

Tornado joined his tag team partner and warned the champions not to underestimate the value of experience. Montgomery and Laurent made a comment about being the future of the company before sarcastically wishing Adam and Tornado good luck when they meet in the ring.

Who is Cole Arcane?

Kimberly Kennedy invited Cole Arcane to the ring to explain his change in attitude since Final Round last November.

Kennedy recapped Arcane betraying Rex Anarchy after their tag team match at Final Round and his attacks on Anarchy the past few weeks, especially the vicious post-match beat down last week.

Arcane felt that Anarchy wanted to use him for years, going back to 2015 in the Rapid Fire Wrestling promotion. Arcane decided to turn the tables and use him instead.

“I figured I would use him to get the MoW Team Championship. When Rex failed and cost us the match, I had no more use for him so I dumped him like he deserved to be. Everything that came after that is on him. He’s not worth my time.” -Cole Arcane

Kennedy remarked that he doesn’t sound like the Cole Arcane she knows and Arcane said she knows nothing about who he is before leaving the ring.

Setting the Story Straight

Claudia Winter and MoW Champion Shannon Worth came to the ring to address the looming threat of Cate Stiles. Winter revealed last week that Stiles was not medically cleared to compete and reiterated that Stiles can make a lot of noise but noise won’t win her a championship. Worth had words of her own for Stiles.

“You were great once but that was before I came around. I broke you. I literally broke you. One year later, you still aren’t cleared to wrestle in my ring. I have an important job to do carrying this belt. I’m the longest reigning champion in MoW, ever, and I need to focus on real competition. You can’t compete, so why are you wasting my time?” -Shannon Worth

Worth’s words brought out Stiles to respond. Stiles admitted that she was not medically cleared to wrestle but the Mad Season supershow was four weeks away and she was confident she would be cleared before then.

“I am ready and you will find yourself standing across from me at Mad Season. When the night is over, you’ll be looking up at me while I stand over you with my MoW Championship belt.” -Cate Stiles

Winter promised Worth she would talk to MoW Commissioner Tiger Johnson and put this issue to rest. Stiles told Winter to stop giving Worth false hope and called out the concern on Worth’s face.

Ridge vs. Jax Rivers

Jax Rivers challenged Ridge’s bid for an MoW Championship opportunity prompting Tiger Johnson to pit the two in a number one contender match.

The stakes were high which made for a competitive match. Ridge built a strong offense and tried for a moonsault but Rivers rolled out the way. Rivers used an aggressive series of slams before slowing Ridge down with submissions.

Rivers dropped Ridge with a flapjack and thought he had the match won but Ridge kicked out of a pin. Rivers tried again but this time Ridge countered the flapjack and turned it into a DDT. Ridge subdued Rivers, used a shooting star press, and secured a pinfall victory to make him the number one contender for the MoW Championship.

Ridge stood with his arm raised in victory when MoW Champion Killer Malone came down to the ring to confront his new challenger. Malone and Ridge stood face to face before Malone backed up, nodded his head, and walked away. Ridge watched the champion leave before celebrating his win with fans at ringside to close out the show.
